Immensely valuable, many thanks for the conversation. Echoes with Cal Newport and others too, to encourage us to really reconnect to whatever it is we are really seeking, from transactional work to fulfilling hobbies and identifying our personable qualities beyond our current skills or perceived limitations. And not quitting your job just because you feel like being consumed by your so-called passion. Full of common sense and encouraging insight. Speaking of electricians (58:30) - others speak of "following your blisters" rather than your bliss/passion...

I deeply resonate with what has come out of this very human conversation. I’ve been a UXer for 10 years, and I’ve been dealing with fear for the past two. Creating an alternative plan has improved both my emotional state and my outlook on life. Since I started working on my new plan (learning goldsmithing), my perspective has shifted, as has my perception of my identity. We are compelled to choose ourselves every day, but if we stay on the same track, that choice becomes automated. I don’t know how long I’ll be able to do what I currently do (which I still love and which provides a decent salary), but at least I know there’s something else that fascinates me just as much (if not more, because the fire of being a beginner burns brightly). I also think we feel fulfilled as UXers because the work, in part, nourishes our soul. But perhaps a creative hobby could do the same (maybe even more?). Just some thoughts.

Loved this conversation between you two. I really appreciated Debbie's sincerity around having good days versus bad days. The problem with LinkedIn and all of these other sites is they promote toxic positivity. Talks like these are so refreshing. Please keep it up for everyone's sake!

Listening to the part about companies making people quit using the work-from-office card as I am literally quitting my job for the same reason...is comforting and frustrating at the same time to see the validation for my suspicions about the situation

This is so interesting! I've been thinking about this a lot and I thought it was just anxiety Lol I love how clarifying this is. Thank you!

Hey, Mr. Vaexperience, can you do a video on exploring and solving problems for other industries such as health tech, manufacturing, shipping, electricians, etc. all these industries have tech problems. I think there are more opportunities in those industries because they aren’t sexy like FAANG NVidia, etc
