First time mom here! I am delivering at a birth center and actually thought squatting was a good way for natural birth. I have watched some of your videos explaining how beneficial different positions can be vs. on your back. I would love to see a video on the best positions to give birth naturally for the least amount of tearing and easiest for the baby to move properly and not against gravity! Love your videos! Thanks for the great content!

Squatting is good until when they baby is crowning. Squatting stretches the skin there too much. Better to be on all fours
@nathandaigle55363 жыл бұрын
Like the last point. My first I was rushed to push when I had no urge to do so. I also wanted to squat but western doctors dont accommodate that. I did tear and her rushing me was an awful anxiety filled time when I was in such a peaceful mindset before hand considering I was doing it without epidural or pain meds. My body knew. The drs need to understand this and respect that. Baby number two is to be here anyday now.. I'm overdue with him and this time I'm not letting anyone force me to push or tell me what position is best. I'm going to do this with confidence and peace of mind. I have midwives this time.

I want to squat as well but would they be there to catch the baby to prevent it from falling on its head. Last thing I want is them to say "we told you to do the back position " this is the risk that comes with doing other positions

I ripped while giving natural birth on my back, I was 18 at the time. My OB said “I have too cut or you’re going too tear” (my daughter was 9 lbs 5oz and had wide shoulders and I was tiny). But once she said that, I said NO let me rip then! Because I got scared of the thought of being cut down there. So I pushed as hard as I could and I definitely ripped, but she never told me how bad the tear was. I just know the aftermath was horrible, trying too urinate was painful! I had too pee standing up in the shower for I don’t remember how long.

@CajunStork3 жыл бұрын
If a doctor thinks she “might need to give you one” and will ask you, she is likely going to cut you. Episiotomies are only for medical emergency for the baby and has almost nothing to do with how “well” you stretch. I’d talk to her about it again ASAP.

I was extremely fortunate to not tear during my first two childbirths (epidurals and on back for both) but definitely pushed slowly when I felt pressure as opposed to when being told to push. Hoping this time around I am lucky again as this will be my first natural birth from home.

I didn’t tear when I gave birth for the first time (3 years ago). Not knowing, but I did what you recommended in this video and that was not delivering on my back, “going natural”, and letting my body take the lead in pushing . Definitely plan to do the same with #2 that’s coming this year.

My first birth was not like I had planned or wanted at all. I went with a doctor per my husband's request and my babe hung in there until almost 42 weeks when I was encouraged to be induced because of protein and blood pressure. Well that intervention led to more and more until after a 24 hour labor with 12 hours of pushing I had an episiotomy and my baby was vacuumed out. Needless to say I am going with a midwife this time but will still deliver at the hospital (nervous husband) and hopefully a doula as well but I'm wondering if having had an episiotomy will affect in any way a completely natural birth next time?
@mareekamills31592 жыл бұрын
I definitely found healing from an episiotomy way more painful than from tearing with my 2nd & 3rd labours. I regret allowing it to happen. When a mother does tear, what is your method for repairing the tear. I had a very traumatizing experience with my first (no epidural with pitocin but in the hospital on my back, local anesthetic and immediate sewing). My second was better but I’m not sure I want to go the same route (no epidural with pitocin but in the hospital in hands and knees position, narcotic that was allowed to take affect and then local anesthetic that was allowed to take affect, and then sewing) now that I’m expecting my third.

Hello. I am writing from Turkey, your video was really helpful. But i have a little bit different situation which I have "varicose" around the outer of the genital area. And I am wondering what would happen if I give naturel birth to my baby which I have 1 month until. It hurts when I go to toilet or in the morning when I first wake up. So it makes me think that its going to be a lot harder to give naturel birth. But I would still like to know if I would still be able to have naturel delivery? Or is that a serious problem which I should consider a C-section delivery? I need to urgently decide if I will give naturel birth or not but I cant make up my mind because I want to do the right thing. I talked to my doctor but I would like to hear from your experience. Because when you explain it feels much more trustworthy information. Also the doctor said that my baby is not upside down yet which is another problem. And the doctors say that they have to do seserian if baby does not turn upside down. (i checked from dictionary for this word and I hope I am using the right word) thank you for your ideas and help. I hope to hear from you as soon as possible so I can decide what I want to do. Thank you so much(I m sorry I took too long.

Once you’ve had an episiotomy the scar tissue is easy to tear open again and again afterward at future births. Often it follows the same line or deeper. Also, if you birth on your back it even more greatly increases the risk of that episiotomy scar tearing.

Rarely! I’ve seen 1-2 naturally-birthed tears that severe in almost 200 deliveries. IOne was a double Nuchal hand (two hands were delivered with the head/face) and the other was a baby delivered abruptly in a squatting position (on a birth stool actually). Believe it or not, squatting can increase the severity of tears as well so I try to avoid that position when possible.
