I’m so happy to have found your channel! I didn’t realize that this technique helped with resetting the vagus nerve. I used to do this a lot as a young child bc I had so much energy and it was the only way I could release it without annoying or bothering my family members. Thanks again and looking forward to more videos!

Thanks Justin. I appreciate your help and advice. I am currently doing the hand pressing technique every morning in conjunction with alternate nostril breathing ( a breathing exercise that is fantastic, don't know if you already covered it or tried it.) this silent scream exercise is proving tricky for me as I can't seem to get the hang of it. My whole body and neck muscles tense up and I don't know if that's right or not. I'll keep at it anyway. By the way, you're a great presence and talk really well. You definitely should have more subscribers. I'm sure they'll come. Thanks again Justin. Peace to you.

I will do a video in a few weeks on nasal breathing and how it resets the nervous system and raises vagal tone. It is such a simple exercise, but like all such tips, it is down to the consistency in order to deliver the results. I really appreciate your kind words Stuart. My goal is to share information to help others. Nice and simple. 🙏🙂

@@karinanikoghos7285 For the alternate nostril breathing search the Internet for nadi shodhana. You should find information how to do it. Or you could try this link which is what I use yogalondon.net/monkey/the-ins-and-outs-of-alternate-nostril-breathing/ All the best to you and I hope it helps.
I tired this along with the video and it is by far my most favourite exercise.

Huh...I wrote a poem the other day, and one of the lines is "I am a silent scream". I will add this to my arsenal. Thank you!! I'm a russian doll, a fractal set, a dream within a dream A macrocosm, a quantum wave, I am a silent scream I am the earth, the seashore, and a single grain of sand I'm information, I'm the cell, the finger, and the hand I'm always here, I'm always now, I'm never lost or found I'm the light containing darkness; I'm the silence holding sound. In the space that holds all matter, in the time that takes it all away, I am the one who prays to God, and the one to whom I pray.

I just did it and at first I thought I had to slowly breath out through my nose and that wasn't possible, but then I figured out I need to breath out through the mouth and it was better. However, I felt weird, but hey...I unfortunately feel weird for quite some time now so everything that can help me (and strengthening my vagus nerve) is welcome. I wonder which breathing techniques you soon will cover, because I am practicing for a long time already different breathing techniques from Kundalini yoga which are in different ways beneficial, such as alternate nostril breathing, breath of fire, one minute breath, left nostril breathing, for immuunsystem etc. Keep up your amazing work and if I feel a bit more energized I would like to start with the hand pressing exercise, but that's not feasible yet now (long covid patiënt unfortunately).
@JustinCaffrey3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Irene. You can try the hand pressing technique without having to use too much energy. Simply press the hands together as much as you can. I think you will be surprised by this simple exercise. In terms of breathing, yoga is the best. Kundalini is my favourite. Slowing down our breathing is key. In addition building a meditation practice is superb too. Wishing you well, Justin.

@@JustinCaffrey @Justin Caffrey thanks for your reply, I only just see this now. Since you've said that slowing down our breathing is key, do you mean this in the general sense or now in my situation, so better not do the breath of fire or e.g. Wim Hof breathing techniques? I experienced trauma 1 year ago (had a lot of trauma therapy) and got corona at the same time, and the expectation now is that my problems are mostly related to long covid symptoms and not to trauma anymore. However, covid also affects the CNS horribly, so...And does these exercises also could possibly help me to get rid of the dissociative symptoms I have (which also a lot of long covid patients have). I hope you can reply ☺️

Hi Justin, I am wondering if this would be a good technique for me? Before I make my neurological disorder (Spasmodic Dysphonia) worse. The muscles surrounding my voice box spasm involuntarily, which makes it very difficult to talk. Vagus Nerve Training is something I have been doing recently, but I am trying to reduce the muscle tension in my larynx not increase it.
@JustinCaffrey3 жыл бұрын
Hi Sara, given your issues it would probably be best to avoid this exercise. You may like to consider this exercise instead: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3iphaOLoMl7jaM. Wishing you well in the future. Justin

Yes, out the mouth. You constrict your throat. 👍

Should this exercise make you feel like you are fainting?

No. You are overextending the scream. Shorten the duration. It is a release, don’t push yourself harder than needed.

@JustinCaffrey3 жыл бұрын
I think I mastered the “standing on Lego face” many years ago 😆😆. You can scream into a pillow. However, this exercise is also about a very slow exhale. The slow exhale helps calm the body and nervous system. It drops the heart rate and promotes a better vagal tone. It is an entry point to building a meditation practice. I have just released a video for a Vagus Nerve Meditation. Follow this link - kzbin.info/www/bejne/qKbGc2t3jslmi8U.

It is kind of creating the sound of a poltergeist from the bottom of your throat. It can also help to press the tongue into the bottom of the front gum and the back of the teeth. I hope that helps a bit?
