Christmas Day at Vail Ski Resort in Colorado always has a light turnout first thing in the morning. People are busy with their holiday traditions, which don't seem to include skiing on Christmas morning. First stop, Blue Sky Basin. Oops, showed up at the Skyline Express Lift too soon. Doesn't open until later, so we'll just have to do a lap on Tea Cup Express Lift. It's a super overcast day and flat light conditions, so you can hardly see the terrain. Makes it a little dicey sometimes. There was a huge wind event several days ago that blew off the powder and smoothed out and buffed the surface. The sun finally pokes through for a short period and softens things up as the skiers and riders finally begin populating the slopes. Merry Christmas!
