He can sing, but at the same time I say that he was better as a singer when he was with Geordie: he seemed to be able to sing every kind of music. With AC/DC he has reduced his range and in the comparison with Bon Scott (as "the" singer of AC/DC), to me he comes out as the loser.

When he starts singing high you can hear his early AC/DC vocals a bit. With AC/DC he just sang much louder, then he blew out his voice somewhere in the mid 80's had had to go falsetto from there. At least that's how it seems to my ears. You can clearly hear a full throated screaming voice on Back in Black and the next couple albums, but on Razor's Edge it sounds more like a falsetto trying to imitate how he used to sound.
@Paolo87726 жыл бұрын
Back in Black was also sung in falsetto, although he sung better on that album than in other AC/DC albums. Johnson naturally had a baritone voice and is probably bass now.
@dupersuper65165 жыл бұрын
Man y'all don't know what a falsetto is lmfao
@chuckkourouklis19804 жыл бұрын
Well, falsetto, not falsetto, point stands. There's a tiny bit of wear audible album by album from Back in Black thru For Those About To Rock to Flick Of The Switch. More drastic on Fly On The Wall, lots more on Blow Up Your Video, and then a pretty laryngitic gargle from Razor's Edge thru Stiff Upper lip (one kid new to Dacca heard Thunderstruck the first time and asked "who's the old lady singing" - OUCH). And what can anyone expect? That kind of thrashing isn't sustainable indefinitely - which made it all the more jaw-dropping and miraculous when Johnson returned with much of his edge and snarl back on Black Ice, sounding better than he had since 1988.
