Spare a thought for Geeta Dutt as she sang this song. Singing it for her husband’s biopic and the actress is the last he loved instead of her. This love/obsession would drive Guru Dutt and then Geeta herself to their early deaths. There is a reason even the great Lata Mangeshkar could not sing this song as well as the pathos was truly heartfelt and personal
