He has said in other interviews, when he could speak. the jewelry he is wearing was his late mothers. He wears it to feel close to her now that she is gone.

What a great film thunderheart one of Val kilmer best movies other than tombstone, I'm about 1/4Choctaw Indian my great grandma was Choctaw Indian, thunderheart is a true story, seeing Val kilmer in the shape he is now not being able to talk with his own voice is just down right terrible

Thanks for this wonderful interview. Val gives one of his best performances in Thunderheart - an incredible film with a haunting quality. It's not the kind of film you want to watch ten times in a row, it's a treasure you take out every now and then to marvel at.

My cousins's uncle who taught us about the second Wounded Knee. Had us watch Thunderheart to show us why it happened. He is from the Blackfeeet tribe.

Thunder Heart was a good film but perhaps not quite as well received as Kilmer's The Ghost and the Darkness, Malkovich's In the Heart of Darkness, or Eastwood's White Hunter Black Heart.
