Lol yeah, some dancers tend to do that. Les Twins, for example. It's hilarious but it's probably helpful in memorizing steps.

Chloe Smith yeah my whole dance team makes those noises when we're dancing.

Because it helps when you move through irregular rhythms and to provide the appropriate accents. This has been done in jazz choreography for decades. If you just do regular 123 count, the dances can look a little robotic
