The Valdez Mountain Man Hill Climb is the premiere snowmachine hill climb event in Alaska, sponsored by the Valdez Snowmachine Club. This event was filmed in April 2024 by AKwild1.
Info from the Valdez Snowmachine Club.
The 33rd Annual Valdez Mountain Man Hillclimb was a huge success. We had 186 registered racers across our 3 race types including Hillclimbs, Hill-X (hosted by AMMC Racing) and Mountain Drags! We've grown tremendously in the past few years and we expect that trend to continue. The State Troopers had an opportunity to fly over the event on Saturday and estimated approximately 5,000 people in the area for this event. The Hill-X Racing continues to be a spectator favorite with front-row seats to the high-octane bar-to-bar racing. The Mountain Drags, added a few years ago as a bad weather fill-in has now become an event of its own with some racers attending solely to race in the drags!
The Valdez Mountain Man Hillclimb is now one of the premier spring events in the state of Alaska. Racers and spectators from all around the state travel to Thompson Pass to be apart of this spectacular event. The Valdez Snowmachine Lions Club, with an all volunteer staff are intensely dedicated and work tirelessly to provide a high quality event. As a family-focused race event, many racers bring the whole family, and the kids spend days riding the flats or racing the Jr. class options when they run. This is a sport building event and most racers sieze that opportunity, even though the competition is fierce and the prizes are substantial, the camaraderie is abundant and the racers support one another with parts and advice. I can honestly say I’ve never seen anything like it anywhere else.
Stay tuned as we are already planning and prepping to make it even bigger and better next year!
Get it on your mind!
