@@joeypolashenski2655 It's crazy to assume that the outcome of student council can only be something as trivial as free ice cream. My school has a student council that can actually bring about change in the school and while I've been there that has included making the school site more environmentally friendly (more recycling bins, plants etc) and several fundraising events for charity. As well as things that affect students in the school, e.g. improving the quality of the canteen. They've even recently been heavily involved in a 5 year plan which sets out the future goals of the school. So as long as the student council is effective it's definitely advantageous to the school. I mean although he kinda bashed his school and graduation may not have been the right time to say what he said, at the end of the day he didn't say anything threatening he didn't use any sort of fowl language or did he use any derogatory words. He kept it clean but he also said what he wanted to say. Now if he was threatening the administration and staff or he was cursing and using fowl language then yes that's wrong. But everybody has an opinion and just because you went to a certain school doesn't mean you agree with everything they did or even liked it at all. To some people graduation is sad it's an ending it's bitter sweet. But to others they look forward to graduation because they no longer have to deal with the bull shit they had to put up with when they where in school and graduation is the perfect opportunity to say screw you and not have to worry about getting expelled suspended or detention. There's a reason people who have had a history of a 2.9 GPA tend to be more successful and rich in the entrepreneurship branch than those who have decided to go so far gone into the education system.

Isn't that a tale as old as time? The valedictorian, armed with a speech that could ruffle a few feathers, steps up to the podium, ready to drop some truth bombs. But lo and behold, as soon as the critique hits too close to home for the administration, snip goes the microphone! It's like a scene straight out of a high school drama... oh wait, it actually is! The poor valedictorian, probably rehearsing that speech for weeks, only to have it cut short like an unsatisfying series finale. Talk about leaving us on a cliffhanger! But fear not, brave valedictorian, your message was heard loud and clear. Sometimes the truth is just too spicy for certain ears, especially those in charge. Here's hoping your words echo in the halls long after that microphone mishap. Cue dramatic exit, stage left. 🎤✂💥

@@Atisdel_Entertainment_Officialyou have freedom of speech, not freedom from consequences. Even though I think this kid is probably right that student government is a joke , the school has every right to take him off their stage. If he started screaming slurs it be the same thing from a legal perspective.

He lied to get there...he had a pre approved speech which he used as a tool to get to a bully platform. He's a lying disgrace. Maybe he's right about his points, but lying to get there takes away his freedom. He proved he's not trustworthy and therefore correctly lost the mic.

I agree with this whole heartedly, and it’s exactly why I quit student council before the end of sophomore year. Senators just did grunt work for random school spirit events, that was it. I wanted to be more involved, so I tried to get an officer position, but sadly lost because the sponsor decided to break her own damn by-laws and allow a senior to run for reporter, which specifically stated was only for “sophomores and juniors”. Naturally, I lost, and I haven’t gone back since. Student council is a joke, I somewhat respect the people who do it, but it’s just the school taking advantage of children who are willing to work for some nice college application-and because that is the ONLY thing associated with it, people who have no business being leaders run and win because they’re “popular” (what a joke of a term btw, but whatever). I joined national honor society, and wouldn’t you know, when it comes to an organization that genuinely considers leadership and capabilities, I became president. Yes, honor society is technically just free labor too, but that the whole point of it! It’s a philanthropic organization! That NOT what student council is supposed to be (not saying it can’t, but that just all it has now). They’re supposed to represent the best interests of the student body, not the image of the school (though, they should do that too, but not as their main goal). This is why I quit student council, they’re whole purpose is essentially taken away from them, and has devolved into something that only help people that genuinely disgust me.

Peter Butera should bring a lawsuit against the "administrator"...and the school... for the way they treated him when he delivered the Valedictorian Address. Young Peter has more intelligence...and REAL CLASS... than the mental midget who dragged him off the stage. That man does not deserve to be ALLOWED to work with kids! And whatever happened to the First Amendment? Does not that young man have the same right of Freedom of Speech as I have... or as anyone else has? The administration of that so-called "school" should hang their heads in shame!
