Very nice comments below about how the inadequacies of the piano don't matter so much in the right hands. Sometimes a piano that isn't perfect gives a new dimension to a piece. Also, playing Chopin etudes on a piano with uneven action is quite a feat. She is fabulous.

99% of classical pianists don't have the guts to play on anything but fancy grands. What Lisitsa does is to take away all the pretentious snobbery, and make the music accessible to everybody, everywhere. The music wins easily.

Yeah....The Ocean etude (op. 25 No. 12) suffered because of the quality of the piano. Not a great instrument for works as demanding as the Chopin Opuses 10 and 25. Still, it would have been a kick to walk into a coffee shop somewhere and hear Valentina Lisitsa play these etudes, regardless.

Kinda makes those prima donnas who complain about their instruments and nit pick every note look pretty foolish. Blaming a failed performance on an inanimate object is ignorant. REAL artists work with what they have at the moment to produce the best possible results. Ms. Lisitsa turned a sow’s ear into a silk purse quite well I think.

I think, the piano sounds lovely... its clear and every tone is present. But its hard to handle that. Without good technic and the right pedal-work, it can`t sound good. But Valentina played it great!!! This piano sounds perfect for Beethoven or Mozart... but its not a Chopin-Piano.

Mon piano mis à part la couleur ressemble beaucoup. Je le déconseille fortement. On a souvent l'impression qu'elle tape. C'est normal le piano est une casserole.
