Mario Valentino was first, and followed the footsteps of his father in the leather business. The newer Valentino(Garavani) is raising the price of his products in order to differentiate from Mario, what a reason! And the famous names all use their last name not first name such as Chanel (not Coco), same as Givenchy, Fendi, Gucci, etc., etc. So it only makes sense that when you say Valentino, it is Mario Valentino. Obviously the garavani is luxury but the MV is not cheap by any means with bags costing several hundred. People sell Mario Valentino on Poshmark and they even use Garavani's names. A bag had studs and the seller called it "Rockstud" and the interested buyer had no clue there's was a difference and was overjoyed that the NWT bag was $450. I was pissed and I made a comment on the listing saying Rockstud is NOT a Mario Valentino signature bag. The seller got nasty with me. She was trying to get over on the buyer. SO WRONG!

They pushed the brand as the “real” Valentino and I thought I was buying a Valentino Garavani bag. After I bought the bag, I did my research and realized it was a Mario Valentino bag and returned it the next day. Before my experience I had no idea that there were two different brands. Mario Valentino was established WAY before Valentino Garavani. Why would Valentino Garavani even try to establish a brand with the same name as Mario, Mario was a well known designer in ingalu since the 1960’s. Not a confusion. It's the artist designer's name signature of their work. Everyone that's an artist designer sign their own design. There are many people with similar last names but their first name and designs are different.

I’m going to give a brief history to those that didn’t grow up in the 80’s and 90’s. Mario Valentino was in Every fashion magazine and in New York, Paris actually world wide. If you look at campaigns of the 70’s through 90’s and celebrities EVERYONE had a Mario Valentino bag. Valentino and Mario Valentino had no problem with this and signed an agreement(look it up). Valentino at the time wasn’t known for accessories only couture and ready to wear. I have both actually because the quality of a “Mario”(as they are actually called in elite circles) are great quality. Valentino is still known for couture, but we all have a sense of being elite so it’s Human nature to go for something as close to exclusive as possible. I love your videos, but please give the correct history, because these houses survive on it(I am a fashion editor). Every designer is inspired by every other look and accessories. And “Valentino” started accessories after because it was loosing its high end customer to lower priced brands. They understood the psychology of the society that really doesn’t understand “ the world of luxury”. Luxury isn’t always a name and price😉🙂

All designers copy each other. I saw a Mario in Marshall’s and I like it. I paid $350 and the quality is the same as comparable brands at that price point. I probably will never buy the “expensive” Valentino.

So the Mario Valentino is the low end cause where is sold and Valentino Caravini is up there with the YSL, Gucci, Botega? With the confusing I almost bought the Caravini for my wife she said I want a Valentino bag and I see a “V” and I’m like that’s the one but the price was the brought me here and do some research and is very clear now I guess I’m forced to pay over $1K!!😂 But also the Mario Valentino is the most expensive then Valentino by Mario Valentino is on Saks on sale so please which one is what?

It took time! I saw a Valentino handbag in a private Sale about three years ago and I was surprised to see “Valentino bag in less than 300.00 u$” it took me a couple of hours to find out it wasn’t the same thing. And Almost all the private sale was sold out. Probably most people felt for the trick of “Valentino” bag for less.

🤦🏻‍♀️ I have the wrong bag 🙋🏻‍♀️ got it as a gift (picked it out myself) but when I got it I was suuuuuppppperrrr disappointed with the quality. Didn’t want to upset the person who gave me the bag, especially since I picked it myself, so I kept it. Not worth the money. Buy a mark jacobs or anything else in that price range instead. Dude, I got a mens clutch with studs by Valentino. It looks cheap, has no inside zip or any details , it looks unfinished and simple as fuck and it was retail 580 Euros (550 Dollars). I bought a blue Mario Valentino bag about three months ago. EVERYBODY asks me about it. It looks fantastic with my suits and tailoring. I love my blue Mario Valentino bag. The color is so amazing and I wear it with classic menswear. Move on. Fashion is democratized.

It doesn't matter which brand was created before, the point is that 1) Valentino Garavani is the luxury one with the higher quality and original designs, and 2) the Mario Valentino brand is trying to piggyback on the Valentino Garavani heritage/brand recognition and name. It's just wrong.
