LYRICS:
Valhalla Calling Gavin Dunne 2020
Ships on vigor of the waves are skimming
Barren summits to the verdant plains
Each horizon is a new beginning
Rise and reign
Far from the fjords and the ice cold currents
Ravens soar over new frontiers
Songs and sagas of a fate determined
Shields and spears
Vows of favour or the thrill of plunder
Pull together for the clan and kin
Clank of hammers and the crash of thunder
Pound within
Oh-ho-oh
The echoes of eternity
Oh-ho-oh
Valhalla calling me
Oh-ho-oh
To pluck the strings of destiny
Oh-ho-oh
Valhalla calling me
Valhalla calling me
Sails a' swaying on the crimson rivers
Blood and glory in the fighting fields
Shields a' shatter into splintered timbers
Iron and steel
Fires are rising and the bells are ringing
Glory take us into Odin's halls
Golden glimmer and the sound of singing
Asgard's call
Oh-ho-oh
The echoes of eternity
Oh-ho-oh
Valhalla calling me
Oh-ho-oh
To pluck the strings of destiny
Oh-ho-oh
Valhalla calling me
Valhalla calling me
Wind and the waves will carry me
Wind and the waves will set me free
Oh-ho-oh
The echoes of eternity
Oh-ho-oh
Valhalla calling me
Oh-ho-oh
To pluck the strings of destiny
Oh-ho-oh
Valhalla calling me
Valhalla calling me

I'm from Norway, today was my first step back in the gym after two open heart surgeries this year, I teared up when I lifted weights and heard this song coming up in my ears. I am happy to be alive and well!! Edit: I did not expect this much support and kind words! I am 32 years old for the record. Born with a defect on my heart valve, found out about it in February and tried to repair it first unsuccessful, hence second surgery replacing it with a mechanic heart valve. I had over 50% added size of a normal heart when we found out about it, had it checked this week and now it's only 0.6 cm larger (before it was 3cm larger). Thank you all from the bottom of my (partly mechanic) heart 😅

I am a Registered Nurse (RN for 23 years). I work for Hospice (last 3 years). My career is very mentally and emotionally exhausting. I deal with death and grieving families daily. I play this song all day as I visit my patients weekly. This song gives me drive to do what I do every day. I wake up saying out loud “Each horizon is a new beginning”. This song is just so amazing. There is power in words.

Have you checked the other version of this song with these two talented singers and add up one more person into the mix for a more resonating effect.. They added Eric Hollaway. I dunno if you'll see this, I doubt you will, but I just wanted to let you know this has become my Son's lullaby. When he was a newborn I sang this to him and it was one of the first times I made him smile. Now when he's upset I sing this to him and 9/10 times it calms and soothes him. I also sing it to him when he struggles to sleep, works great. Like I say, you probably won't see this, but on the off chance you do, I thought you'd like to know this, and Thank You for his lullaby.

You guys delivered an absolute FIRE of a song, you gave us EVERYTHING in that song. And right when I thought it's remake of the original version... THEN THE METAL VERSION HIT. I can't describe how much I love this. And as always with Gavin's songs - I cannot decide which version of a song is better! And I love this, because I get to fit it to my mood or what I want to listen to. Love you all, you are all awesome! It is a good time, Sabaton released "Steel Commanders" month ago, "Christmas Truce" a week ago, today another epic version of "Valhalla Calling" from Gavin, man, I hope the good music won't stop coming like this anytime soon.

It's no surprise you need a break from VC now, haha! I'm really excited for the epic Dune song, knowing your songs that were not inspired by games and movies I am sure it will be another treat! It's kind that Gavin gave Peyton a big break and let him feature on his popular chanel at the time and gave him a vocalist spot as a feature on this awesome song! Definitely gave Peyton a boost within the viking core/ metal when he needed it. Bit shady on Peytons part to edit Gavin out of the exact same music video featured on his chanel though? Combine that with Peytons social media blitz where he would never tag Miracle of Sound the actual creator/singer/producer of this song and kind of present it like it wasn't a song he features as a guest vocalist. Rude way to operate.

Modern Pagans: Life is beautiful and important. Hail to the Gods. (Minding their own business.) Christians: tHeRe Is OnLy OnE gOd. This is the reason our ancestors didnt stop after Lindisfarne. Wanna cry christian tears? Fine. But dont go shoving your religion down other peoples necks like some self-made rightous zealot. You are a disgrace to Christianity. You speak of love and compassion and all i have ever saw is hate. Hate and Jelousy. 2 things of many that 90%of Christians do that DIRECTLY go against the word of your God. At least we know the names of our Gods, can you say the same without the help of Google? Your faith was built upon the destroyed remains of all worldly religions. Killed millions of innocents simply because they didnt believe in a story they've NEVER heard. And yall talk of your god being omnibenevolent? Would an Omnibenevolent God be okay with the atrocities your faith has commited? Even Odin, Chief deity and Allfather of the Gods, would be appalled if we pagans killed people in an unofficial crusade simply because they didnt believe in the Old Gods. No, they teach us to live with respect for life. To uphold truth and honor. To become self reliant so that we are not to be a burden upon the world. We fight the fights no one wants because we do not fear death. We understand its importance. We will live and fight again in the final battle of good and evil. Such a perfect motivational song. I struggle a lot with depression, especially when I'm in a monotonous routine, and this song not only makes me feel so much stronger but... "Wind and the waves will set me free" - this line epitomises my love for travel, the freedom I feel when I go adventuring and my dreams of seeing the world.

The original felt like something that could be sung and chanted at a holiday feast or as a part of some ritual. This, on the other hand, feels like a whole army of Vikings singing as they gather outside a castle they are laying siege to, psyching themselves up while terrifying their victims that are trapped inside their own fortifications, finally charging the walls on that final Valhalla.

Bruh you can't know they were vikings anymore than I could know mine were accountants. To be a viking was a job done, either by unmarried men looking to score some land so they could find a wife or traders looking or goods. It was a profession, not something you find in your blood. And before you ask, I am actually Swedish and a history minor. There is so much more to scandinavian history and culture than vikings.
