Quick tip for anyone new, taco briefly mentions "rain damage" basically most wood pieces (not roof or vertically diagonal) pieces take damage when in rain or underwater. This damage can never be more than 50% hp so won't break anything but does make it look worn-out. You can fix buildings at no cost with the hammer as long as the correct work station is nearby.

I don't think it's in your vid, but four 45° corewood beams followed by four 26° beams converging to a cross. It's the roof for my tower. I was able to put down some thatch but it was very awkward and the pieces don't perfectly align.
