Keep Nidhogg, because Fader is weak to thunder damage when you fight him. HOWEVER, Dyrnwyn is a rumored key component for the deep north expansion, so it is important to keep it for later. I play with a group made up of my siblings. We went out for Dyrnwyn, crafted it and upgraded it to 4, I am the designated wielder, and we were genuinely surprised to see how well it did in the Ashlands despite not necessarily being FOR the Ashlands. Charred Twitchers and Marksmen were getting killed in one to two hits, and the Warriors were between 2 and 3 with the sword fully upgraded. I'd keep Dyrnwyn on hand for sure. it wont be of any use to you in the Fader fight, as Fader is immune to fire damage, but it is good to keep.

Hi Capn! He's completely immune to it?? I suppose he is the emerald flame so it makes sense. Nidhogg is definitely still my preferred for now. I am curious to see Dyrnwyn fully upgraded though. Sounds really badass from what you've mentioned

@@true-blue-gamer indeed, Fader is completely immune to fire, and Fader is by far the hardest boss to fight, so, don’t go into that blindly. Do yourself a favor and do some research, because he actually sucks! Anyways. Dyrnwyn fully upgraded is a great investment, because every enemy before the Ashlands pretty much dies in a hit or two. Wolves? Dead in one. Trolls? Dead in one, maybe two. Fulings? Also 1-2 hits. I haven’t tried seekers yet, but I will later today. Nidhogg is great but if you’re looking for a bigger damage pool, I’d try the scourging slayer, it’s the greatsword that does the lightning damage, or the berserker axes that do lightning as well

Nope, only the lava blob that explodes is resistant to fire. The rest of the enemies take fire damage just fine. In fact Durnwyn works well against Fader famously.
@The_Real_Fomsie
@The_Real_Fomsie Ай бұрын
This is incorrect. The Charred are Very Resistant to fire, Fallen Valkyrie are Resistant to fire, Morgen are Resistant to fire, Askven are Resistant to fire, Fader is Immune to fire. Resistant reduces damage to 50%, Very Resistant reduces damage to 25% Conversely, Morgen are Weak to Lightning and everything else is Neutral to it. So, while Drynwyn does more slashing damage, it loses out on added Elemental damage as well as the Chain Lightning proc.
@msarilyn7677
@msarilyn7677 Ай бұрын
@@The_Real_Fomsie The elemental damage is very little on the sword anyway so it does not matter as the slashing damage is much higher.

@@msarilyn7677 A Tier 2 Dyrnwyn does 151 Slashing and 10 Fire, a Tier 2 Nidhogg the Thundering does 141 Slashing and 10 Electricity + a 25% chance of 75 Electricity from Chain Lightning. So while that Slashing damage is slightly higher, the base Electric closes the gap as so many Ashlands creatures are resistant to Fire, thus giving Dyrnwyn less of an advantage, and when the Chain Lightning is added in, it causes Nidhogg to pull ahead, especially against tougher foes where there is a greater chance of the Chain Lightning to proc due to taking more hits.

Hmmm, really? I mean I feel like Dyrnwyn really wasn't cutting it (pun intended) for me... Definitely feel like Nidhogg is the best tool for the job for now

@@true-blue-gamer Nidhogg the Thunderer is mathematically better than Dyrnwyn against most foes in the Ashlands. It isn't a huge difference, but it is noticeable, particularly on tougher foes.

- I would agree on keeping Nidhogg. The "comparative analyses" between the two swords have already been run by very experienced Valheimers and Nidhogg is the overall slightly better choice, for now. - The Trollstav is handy for clearing out fortresses and the spawners therein and also for drawing away enemies and keeping them occupied. The summoned Trolls are as strong as regular trolls but have a lot more health and some resistances that ordinary trolls do not have.

Yeah I'm definitely going back to Nidhogg! It just feels better when I use it I can see the troll stave being used to create distractions - but just concerned about how quick it might die

The magic system is very inconsistent, and, in my opinion, not well thought out. The summoned Skellets are too fragile and slow for most fights, and the Troll is just a waste of Eitr that could almost always be better spent elsewhere. The Dundr is basically a shotgun that does electric damage and requires eitr instead of ammo, but it isn't particularly impressive on account of its extremely short range. The Staff of Fracturing can either be very useful or nearly worthless depending on your luck. The Staff of the Wilds is amazing with the ability to summon multiple vines in a tight area. In my personal experience, the Staff of Frost, Staff of Embers, Staff of the Wilds and Staff of Protection are the best "go-to" options for Magic Combat. I switched to a full magic build as soon as I could make the items in the Mistlands and used it through the Ashlands until we finished the final boss, and the Staff of Frost was my main go-to weapon, with Embers used for groups in the Mistland and The Staff of the WIlds taking the number 2 spot in the Ashlands.

Makes sense to use staff of frost since you're dealing with fire based enemies in the Ashlands. Interesting you say all of that about magic cause I thought that many people say that magic use is OP? And that in particular the Ashlands is a lot easier to conquer with a magic build? I have no idea tho... I just use the equipment that looks the coolest in my very subjective opinion 😅

@@true-blue-gamer Oh, magic is kinda OP, but it is inconsistently applied in the development of new staves and how they function. Certain ones are vastly more effective than others.
