When Aboms were first introduced to the game I ended up taking the high ground on the big roots they couldn't destroy and just rain fire arrows on them. Helped against any of the other swamp critters attempting to join the fighting unless they were also archers.

I absolutely adore the abomb trophy. My first play through I would make a small shelter at the crypt entrance with stake walls. Throw down a chest and portal. Clear the crypt move the iron to the boat then move the shelter to the next crypt. Repeated until my boat was full. Portal was for rest bonus and repairs.

Maypole gives you 1 additional comfort when combined with the other items.

The Maypole gives +1 comfort, but no, you don't need to build at the maypole. During the midsomer season, Valheim adds it as a build piece that you can add to your existing base yourself with a little wood, dandelion, and thistle. (Same concept as with the yule items during that season.)

Abom-inations are scarier than trolls to deal with. And I'm very impatient when it comes to mining, so I used portals, which I know you've been trying to avoid, but I think that you'll have a harder time trying to find peace to do a mining outpost in the swamp, so if anything, I'd haul some iron back in the boat and build a bigger one like you said. Too bad you haven't found Haldor and got the belt though, it'd up the amount of weight that you could carry and that would help a lot. I haven't found him on my new map yet either. I think for the other Maypole, I remember you saying that you wanted to do some builds there, but I don't think you mentioned what you wanted to build. I think it was just another "how to build" something type of video, though.

When you get iron shield, you can actually block aboms and give them hell, using your axe 😊

I've been building very heavily on my brother's server, and one thing I've noticed is when you build too much in one place the lag starts to set in :( Sadly that means it's not so great for making villages and towns because it turns your CPU into a bomb! But if you space your builds out (say, between two different maypoles) it should help.

Great video. The Aboms can be a bit intimidating at first, as is the entire swamp in my opinion. I think you should just build on to your current base.

I am in the same boat as you. I bought the game when it came out, played it some, and then just took oof building and never beat the game. Hell's, I have never even seen the mistlands either. Sadly, my PC has Franky died a few days ago, so I my only Valheim fix is this channel. Oh yeah, Air Bomb!

NGL, the "a-bom" was quite a challenge for this non-English speaker to figure until you referred to the full word 🤣 And don't rush to Ashlands yet. You will be frustrated. Very frustrated...
