if you don't know the solders are called ODST's from the game Halo. they are shock troopers that use one man drop pods to land behind the enemy lines via starships from orbit. they are the best solders the UNSC have that are augmented in some way and have earned the nick name "Helljumpers" with their motto being "Feet first into hell". the pic is showing how they bury their dead on the battlefield. if you want to know more the game they are the most feachered in is Halo 3 ODST which i would suggest you look into as it shows how good these solders can be (or look at the live attraction trailer for the game)

Halo 3 ODSTs was a great change of pace from the normal Halo games, it had that LA Noire vibe while you're still in an active warzone skirting around (or annihilating) squads of Covenant forces. loved it.
