Perfect timing as I'm about to set up a dirted tank and can't afford a ton of plants, so if this propagates that quickly I won't have to wait forever for the tank to be fully planted.
@dbcaquatics2 ай бұрын
Hey, thanks for the comment! FYI the tank behind me in the video is actually the dirted tank I planted the Vallisneria and as you can see is thriving! Glad the timing is perfect for you! Yes, this plant can grow fast, so you'll have a lush, fully planted dirted tank in no time without breaking the bank. Best of luck with your setup, and feel free to share how it goes-I'd love to hear about your progress!
@stevegee80102 ай бұрын
@@dbcaquatics Yeah, I'll let you know how it goes. It's only a 128 litre (34 USG) and will be very low tech, unheated Walstad style, so the plan is just a paradise fish.

I love it. I've always said the val is my favorite plant because it grows so well it will make your tank look like you know what you are do8ng.😅

Haha, I totally agree! Vallisneria really does give that pro look to any tank, even if you're just starting out. It's such a resilient and beautiful plant, it's hard not to love it! Thanks for sharing, and glad you're enjoying your Val! 😊

I have a ten gallon corkscrew only tank. Its a deep substrate no tech tank and val took over the tank completely 😀 One thing i observed is, water is crystal clear and well oxygenated(constant pearling under ordinary 10W LED) compared to my other tank.
@dbcaquatics2 ай бұрын
That sounds like an incredible setup! Corkscrew Val can really transform a tank, and it’s awesome to hear it’s thriving in your low-tech environment. The pearling under that 10W LED must be beautiful to watch! Clear water and great oxygenation are definitely signs of a healthy ecosystem. Thanks for sharing your experience! If you want a shorter version of val I recommend dwarf sagittaria.
@dbcaquatics2 ай бұрын
Thanks so much for the recommendation! Dwarf sagittaria is a wonderful alternative for aquarists who want something similar but shorter than val.
@danielingalls89802 ай бұрын
Dwarf Sagitaria can do the same thing too. I started off with five cutting from the local store and now they have spread themselves to the other side of the tank. The dwarf sag also worked its way around the hardscape to do it too. My 40 gallon is now a forest of dwarf sag. I also have a number of sword and crypt plants as well, they all grow very healthy but nowhere near as much as the dwarf sag.
@dbcaquatics2 ай бұрын
Hey there! Thanks for sharing your Dwarf Sagitaria success story-it’s incredible how just a few cuttings can turn into a whole forest! Your tank must look amazing with those swords and crypts too. Keep up the great work!🌱💚
@danielingalls89802 ай бұрын
@@dbcaquatics The dwarf sag also stays a bit shorter for those with smaller or lower tanks. I also have some jungle Val going too but it's at least two feet long at this point. I'm going to have to trim it soon to stop it from dimming the lights to much for the other plants. Still Valisenaria is quite a miracle plant to be such a nutrient and water quality controller.
@dbcaquatics2 ай бұрын
@@danielingalls8980 Thanks for your comment. Jungle Val can really grow like crazy! Trimming it will help keep the light from getting blocked for your other plants, and it's awesome that you've got dwarf sag for smaller tanks. I totally agree-Valisneria is a miracle plant for water quality and nutrient control! Happy trimming and enjoy your beautiful tank!

Does anyone one else have Vallisneria that blooms? Many middle skiffia 10 gal, in a western facing windrow is overrun with long streamers with blooms and bloom buds at the ends.The actual flowers are tiny but, they are awfully pretty! Does anybody else have a likewise experience with their Vallisneria?

Wow, thanks for sharing your experience! It’s always exciting to hear about Vallisneria blooming-those tiny flowers are indeed beautiful! I haven’t seen blooms in my tanks yet, but it sounds like your setup is really thriving.

I tried jungle val three times and it just died out each time. But then I have well water that has about 0 of anything in it.
@dbcaquatics2 ай бұрын
I’m sorry to hear about your experience with Jungle Val! It can be tricky sometimes, especially with well water that’s lacking in nutrients. You might want to try adding root tabs or liquid fertilizers to boost its growth. Don’t give up-it’s worth the effort! 😊 Let me know how it goes!

I find the corkscrew Val frustrating. When it sends out shoots the older one dies off completely.
@dbcaquatics2 ай бұрын
Hey @pamelapapenfuss7330, I totally get your frustration! Corkscrew Val can be finicky, and it's not unusual for older shoots to die off when new ones appear. It might help to trim the older leaves to direct even more energy into the new growth. Thanks for sharing your experience-you're not alone in this! Happy aquascaping, and I hope the Val thrives soon!

@@dbcaquatics my understanding is it removes nitrates from soil and not from the water column like water wisteria etc . Is that wrong ?
@dbcaquatics2 ай бұрын
@@yinyangyinyang-tn6tc Hi there! Thanks for your comment! You're absolutely right that Vallisneria mainly absorbs nutrients from the substrate through its roots, but it can also assist in nitrate removal from the water column to a lesser extent. Water Wisteria is definitely more efficient in this regard. Appreciate your support-don’t forget to like, subscribe, and turn on notifications for more aquarium insights!

For me i putted in my aquarium two weeks ago but its dying .the water is good .the fishes are healthy .i have pothos and its growing well also except vallisneria why ??
@dbcaquaticsАй бұрын
Hello! I really appreciate you watching and taking the time to share what’s going on in your tank. It sounds like you’ve got great conditions, so it’s a bit puzzling! Vallisneria can sometimes struggle initially, even if everything else is thriving, like your Pothos. A couple of things that might help are boosting the light levels if possible and adding root tabs to give Vallisneria a bit more nutrient support, especially since they’re heavy root feeders. Some Vallisneria also take a few weeks to adapt to a new tank, so a little patience can make all the difference. Good luck, and I’d love to hear how it turns out!
