According to Reddit in r/Philippines, the reason why there's no adobo rice in the Philippines is because adobo varies from the taste of every filipino. There are many different kinds of styles, there are different techniques, different recipes, and everybody are at each other's throats just to see who cooks the best adobo.

So about pickles in the Philippines. We don't normally use cucumbers to pickle, instead we do use green papaya that's been shredded. The pickling method is called "atsara" and it is ubiquitous in Filipino cuisine.

Since you were surprised with the Burger Steak, there was actually a Discontinued "Secret Item" at Jollibee, it's called "The Ultimate Burger Steak" ( It's A Quarter Pounder Beef Patty with a generous amount of mushroom gravy, underneath is a chunk of Fries and topped it off with crispy garlic bits, sided with White Rice and topped it off with A sunny side-up egg. The topped up egg is an add-on to the order, BUT IT MAKES IT 10X MORE DELICIOUS).

9:35, actually fun fact, we do have pickles in the philippins, but not in the format that americans are used to, like the cucumber pickles, onion pickles, etc. Instead, we have this type of pickled side dish called, "Atsara (pronounced as achara)" Where it's a mixture of shoestring sliced pickled radishes, carrots, and even garlic is on the mix, and it's usually paired up with anything greasy, or grilled, as it's vinegariness helps cut down the fattiness of its food pairing, like i guess fried chicken, barbeque, etc. That's all! about the pickles, there are no pickled cucumbers in the Philippines but there are similarly prepared food we call "Atsara" /at-cha-ra/. they are not the same method of preserving food but they are counterparts in our different cultures. the one i commonly encounter is the "atsarang papaya". it's god-tier when paired with any fried or salty ulam with rice. i have not heard of any atsara used in sandwiches here. there are other types of atsara too that am not quite familiar with. but yeah, TRY IT SOMETIME!
