That flourish at 4:09 under "bravery" gives me chills. As an Irishman I was shocked to hear this after playing the Japanese version of the game, and even more delighted to see they went to the trouble of producing an English version for the Western release.

During the 1800s and early 1900s a large number of refugees from Ireland made their way to the USA seeking freedom from English tyranny of the time. While the USA, being predominantly Anglosaxon Protestant at the time, wasn't exactly welcoming to these new arrivals, Irish people were able to eventually make a fresh start in the USA. Early on, because discrimination based on religion and ethnicity was legal, many were forced to work in dangerous manual labor jobs like firefighting, mining, building railways, and, of course, the US Army. The Minstrel Boy became a staple of American Army music as early as 1820, and remains influential certain groups of the US Military. Irish American soldiers played this tune as they fought in the American Civil War and the Mexican and Spanish American Wars. When the US forces joined up with the Entante in the Great War and the Allies in WWII, American Soldiers had this song on their lips as they fought side by side with British and Irish forces from the Pacific to Africa to mainland Europe. With the Atlantic Federation being a fusion of the Western Allies and NATO, I think it's incredibly fitting to find it used as a tribute to Squad E who are loosely inspired by the US 101st Airborne's E (Easy) Company and the soldiers who served in the British Army both from within the Empire and without.

@@The_Viscount the scots irish were from the 1700's onwards and the song the minstrel boy was written 1803 in commemoration and rememberance of the men for the rising of 1798 who fell at wrexford. The fighting spirit of eire, wales, albion and alba have influenced american history even before the USA was formed in 1776. A fledgling nation with the scots irish may never have become what it became. The scots Irish of the Appalachia who destroyed the loyalist militia on kings mountain were the over mountain men who brought the anger bore of Eniskillin and Culloden. Never again to be subjugated and brought their martial culture and music to help a new nation

@@Song-kh6sk It was a very popular Irish Song. Used by Irish Regiments during the American Civil War. The song has become an adopted child in the United States. Similar to Amazing Grace being written by an English Anti Slave Activist and became beloved in the US as the official song of the abolition movement. It's come to represent understanding, forgiveness and redemption toward people you otherwise wouldn't dream of forgiving, as Amazing Grace goes "I was once lost, but now I am found."

@@filipinowhiteboy They certainly have no shortage of material. They could do a EWI prologue featuring the fall of Fhirald and Gallia's resistance under General Gunther's command with Largo's original squad. Mentioning Fhirald and bringing General Radi Jaeger into the picture, at the end of VC3 it is said he returned to Fhirald to raise a rebellion against the Empire. This scenario would show how fractured the Empire is becoming, lands it had previously conquered rising up in rebellion. Or it could be as you said the USV vs. whatever Japan is named (but would it be an Empire puppet nation or an independant country that's just sided with the Empire?)

@@Averi0 Yep, sounds about right. Although if we're sticking to the Trails timeline, Musse would be the supreme commander of the Weissland Army, or she could be an officer like the sniper officer from the first Valkyria? Still, the whole Branch Campus has enough people for a good chunk of the squad. You could throw in some known faces like Ada and Fritz, plus some new original characters we haven't met before. Would soldats be a thing? Dear lord they would be terrifying to face in open-battle. Imagine being a tank operator and see a full squadron of them at the horizon and charge into your position. They zig-zag in dizzying patterns and although some tank shells score lucky hits, the vast majority closes the distance and surrounds your unit. There's desperate cries for help on the radio, blood-curdling screams and silence. Basically Squad E/New Class VII and company would have to fight a guerilla warfare digging trenches and stuff, so a "Lancer" with a panzerfaust can pop in from a blindspot and destroy the soldat

I may be the only one on this hill, but why respect the Centurion at all? It's a ship founded on the blood and sweat of children. Two children died in this voyage. Angie damn near joined them. This is a great song, but the Centurion is hardly worthy of the respect given to the likes of the Titanic or the Harekaze from Haifuri. Every action, as necessary as it was for the end of the war, is tainted. And finally, the heart of the Centurion, the thing that mattered most, was Angie, and she was safe by that point. They were merely saluting a dead husk. Am I the only one who sees that??
