Well i saw this game at a thrift shop . I thought the cover looked cool , but didn't buy it . I went home an looked it up and found out it was a rare game that cost $70+ . The thrift shop was selling it for $3 . I went back and it was gone . FML

I have played my fair share of JRPGs over the past two decades. I played this for the first time in 2018, and I feel confident in saying it is by FAR the most underrated JRPG I know of. The world, artwork, characters, story and music are all S+ tier. The battle mechanics, while flawed, are fun and addictive, and tremendously innovative for the time. The dungeons, while slightly overlong/overcomplex, are fun and imaginative. The game exudes charm. I think it's a bitter shame this game isn't more well known.

So unfortunately, I've never had the pleasure of playing this game. Does the battle screen setup remind anyone of Xenogears? It looks a lot like that to me. But the sprites here are like 10 times better!!! For a game this old, it really looks good!!

I remember playing this when I was like 7 or 8 years old and had this samurai looking guy in my team roster. For some reason I couldn't use any of his moves in combat though and he would just stand there doing fuck nothing. And EVERY time a battle ends his victory-audio would play and he would say some shit along the lines of "It was all me." Hated that smug ass bastard!

Sadly that's true. Even though I enjoy quite a few games of this generation, when it comes to pick a favorite I have to go to the oldies of PSX. I think with the potential of consoles, they could do even more amazing stuff but unfortunately it's not happening

I use ePSXe 1.7.0...It's what works best for PSX ROM emulation. With a bit of tweaking in the drivers, your game will run like it did on the Playstation...

@Rustykit123 yep, epsxe 1.7 is the best choice (in epsxe1.6 the game locks up randomly). i suggest you download epsxe 1.6.0 too, because apparently the swap disc option in epsxe 1.7 is broken and doesn't work at all and since valkyrie profile has two discs you have to use epsxe 1.6 when it comes to changes discs; otherwise you won't be able to finish the game...
