He needed a 3 man at a minimum to get good value and then Chromie is still gonna fuck him up very quickly. Greymane was literally the only one who isn't gonna ruin a mosh somehow. Kerrigan stun, Anna sleep, Diablo's apoc, etc. Bad ult choice. No one likes to pick stage dive though

Stage Dive is not just a "Roamer/Solo ETC" pick. It has a very useful 50% slow that last 3 seconds in a decent sized AoE. He can use it to get behind the enemy team without having to position or use his Slide, which means he can instead use Slide to Stun someone on the backline, preferably Ana or Chromie, so your team can collapse on them. It also puts you in the perfect position to use Face Melt to push an enemy (Again, Ana/Chromie) out of position, and closer to your team. Mosh Pit is an amazing Heroic, and probably the better pick 99% of the time, but Stage Dive is nothing to sneeze at. If the enemy team hard counters Mosh because they have 3 Heroes that have ways to cancel it, then Stage Dive is a much better choice as you might actually get a kill with it, which is preferable to the "use your damage and stuns on me while I stand still" ult.

Let's imagine he's trying to help kill Diablo: better to wait until Diablo is actually trying to run, slide through him then body-block rather than sliding away and letting Diablo walk away un-blocked. Let's imagine that ETC was trying to peel: why peel Diablo there? Diablo is no threat to Valla after both Q and E are used. Valla has both E and Hot Pursuit up, what is Diablo going to do walk, auto, and W her to death? If ETC hadn't wasted BOTH of his abilities in the seconds before Greymane appeared then he would have them up to use when he needed them. "Can you stun him or something?" E.T.C. didn't have Powerslide off cd at 7:45 - 7:50 since he'd used it at 7:38, it has a 12 sec cd, and Greymane leapt in, dodging his Facemelt. Not saying he didn't make mistakes elsewhere but he legit couldn't stun him again before 7:50, which is right when Greymane finally got away.

Have considered doing reviews of someone else's game ? Here in France we have a Master/GM streamer + caster who makes review of sub's games He only takes losses, watches the game, analyses everything he can about what the sub could have done better to win whether it is talents choice, skill shot accuracy, position in the fight, hit and run, soaking, solo lane match up etc... I think it's really entertaining and it helps the community get better at the game

Oh, I watched a lot of Kala's coaching videos. I love that shit. I feel like Fan isn't a coach though. He's good as a player and quirky as a streamer but doesn't quite have the nerve for the teacher position, I'd speculate. I appreciate this sort of insight though. I wouldn't have noticed. I didn't notice Imperius at all either, which in itself should speak volumes about that guy. Anytime a high-ranking dude talks seriously about gameplay, I sponge those words. I just think Fan's not the guy for extended replay analysis.

Pure Fullscreen is better for performance, Fullscreen (Windowed) lets you quickly alt-tab for when he's waiting in queue and doing other things

ETC is just a very hard tank to play. He has low HP and long cooldowns. His slide is basically a Muradin stun that can hit multiple targets, and can either put ETC in a very good position where he can bodyblock, or a bad position where he takes more dmg than the people he slid into and he dies. His knockback is the ultimate interrupt because it interrupts multiple targets, but it's also what separates good ETC tanks from bad. Use it at the right time, and you can interrupt multiple ultimates and skillshots from the enemy team. Use it at the wrong time and you interrupt skillshots from your team. He's basically like a harder version of Diablo. If Diablo stuns you towards his team, you're pretty much dead, because you're not only stunned, you're pinned between Diablo and a wall, so by the time you get around diablo to safety you've already taken a bunch of damage and he just flips you back to where you were. ETC can do that with a good slide, and then bodyblock, and then try to knockback when they start to get around him, but he has much less hp and has to be a lot more careful when he does it. However, unlike Diablo, he doesn't have to be on the other side of the enemy to start his combo and stun and bodyblock, he can slide thru them. But if you use your combo and it does nothing, you basically are just a fat target with low hp for 12 seconds until your abilities come back off cooldown. And Mosh Pit is basically the icing on the cake. Once you learn how to use it, you can completely turn games around. Or you can just get yourself killed if you use it wrong. That's why ETC is on a lower tier than other tanks.

Therefore you boope the enmy team away and stunned the target he wants to kill. Is that a good way to play??

Sadly, this is the reason why I mostly gave up on HoTS. Made it into upper Diamond only to realize I didn't get there because I got better, but I got there because player base got worse. Makes me very sad, can't get good quality game even in ranked, its like diamond is new Gold 1. I miss the old days when I would get stomped when playing against diamonds and learn something from it. Now i just get stomped and only thing I learn is how bad my teammate is or how bad my opponent is... instead of things i can improve up on.

First step is to not rage so bad. I feel like Fan does this perfectly in his Bronze to GM series. He sees the worst plays, laughs at it, shrugs and goes "whatever". He keeps acknowledging enemy plays ("that was a really good swap though"/"oh my god the death mosh gg") as well as ally plays and he uploads defeats with confidence. The game is more valuable than the victory confirmation. In the end, potatoes are an actual thing but the amount of players in need of advice is staggering. Meaning me. I am staggering and also in need of advice. So when you notice something, take the lead, give advice. If I don't take it, move on. But I personally tend to zone out sometimes, not realizing there is an objective, a camp pushing or a level difference. I need a ping. If you take camp, ping it. If objective comes up, ping it. If fort is under attack, ping it. If I'm too aggressive, ping retreat. If I should focus, ping Morales. If you need follow-up, ping Moshpit three times. That kind of leadership is something every player can do. From my experience as a guy who understands soak, camps and so on, I'm still very much in need of guidance. Use chat. I know Artanis is a good solo. But top or bot? Maybe not on this map against this comp? Should I stick or soak? Do we go in or not? That shit is what makes Fan's play mysterious and weird. He just knows where and when to be. I don't, so take control. Be careful in the sense of not belittling me. I miss all of my Muradin stuns? "dont waste q mura" sounds better than "mura y u no hit stuns noob gg". Fan was being condescending here but... I mean, that's Diamond. ETC was actually fucking bad. Maybe this helps a little. :) Be positive, my dude.

usually you have time to walk a bit before pressing W, to position yourself to do the best Facemelt on the target. However, the point is to Q first (slide and stun), then W (to push target towards friendlies, and keep away the rest of the enemy)

When u play that hero a bit, and get used to him, you shouldn't use w immediately after stun, you wait for just exact moment before cc runs off, and then you use it. But playing tanks is based on the situation. Sometimes you will not use w at all, your team might chain cc, or you can body block a bit before using w, depends on the situation. Or you slide a out of position player and you immediately use w to knock him to your team, because enemy team is closing to help out of position player (used mostly in team fights). I don't know what that etc was doing. Only time to use w first is to counter a hard engage on your team. It looked like trolling, I cant wrap my head around the fact that he's diamond 2, because things he was doing were not a bad game. He didn't use his combo right, didn't peel, didn't engage appropriately, didn't even try to use mosh. And against players that know how to play mosh is hard to do, but he had a perfect opportunity to q and then mosh grey and chromie, instead of just using w. In that scenario, enemy team had only 1 counterplay, and that was apox. And they would still get 1 kill at least, and apox out of it, and they could turn the game. Also playing tank is sometimes an ungrateful position if playing with bad dps player, even if u get a good engage (good engage is when you're dps are in position to follow up on your engage) you might not get anything out of it. Most bad players seem to like to play dps, but don't understand the concept of a follow-up, or positioning in team fights. And of course soaking- taking camps at the right times, they just want to team fight, and ironically they don't even know how to do that properly. I rumbled quite a bit, sorry about that.

This is why no one wants to play tank in Storm League. Was ETC bad? Yes. But did you really need to trashtalk him all game and even have an uploaded rant on him after-game? The reason why people can't play tanks is because whenever they try to play, everyone is just shitting on them, cause they're playing the most team-focused role with randoms who usually don't communicate unless it's trashtalking which is fcking hard to play and they're also less experienced at the role in general cause they filled. They then get frustrated by all the "know it better" people abusing them and get tilted. Even if Fan genuenly knows it better, that's not how it feels ingame when you're trying to focus on the game and someone starts crisising you in-chat. It will feel to the other person like a sarcastic remark, not a constructive criticism.

I assume he is a fill because of how badly he played, but since Fan never shows draft (even though it would be super useful), it's anyone's speculation. I also was not generalizing Fan's chat. I was talking about the playerbase's attitude in general (e.g. your comment being a good example), Fan just being part of the problem. It doesn't matter what exactly he said, he was patronizingly telling the very basics on a hero. But the truth is, no one will ever learn from you giving tips to you mid-game when they're trying to focus on the game, it's just not the correct environment to give help in. Humans don't work that way. The ETC was well aware of how to do a QW combo, what he was lacking is the experience and practice to know when and how to execute it. You can't fix that with in-game tips. The real reason why Fan was giving tips is because he was wenting his frustration, he was just doing it in an indirect passive-aggressive way, and ETC was well aware of that, which is why his negative reaction.

I think Fan is not so helpful (see: wrong) in his "q then w" approach, even for the sole purpose of isolating a kill... see Breez ETC (You can find a good video of excellent analysis of him winning by doing the opposite; search "Heroes of the Storm - E.T.C. Slide Guide") As much as I'm a poor gold player, I think I can see oversimplification when I see it. And I dont like it. I like Fan content, but I would really like calm, nuanced and detailed explanations, like Notparadox, instead of the "ranting format".

Of course there are many times especially when you are behind an enemy before using Q, where W then Q can be the proper play. But its obvious this ETC has no idea what he is doing, and starting off by telling him that makes it even more unlikely he will ever listen to something as simple as q then w to win this particular game. This is not for a carefully made YT guide video, its quick and fast instructions during a game to try to salvage the game, there's a big difference there

I get it is not an educational video, but you are such a good and knowledgeable player so it would be nice to have access to your more complex commentary, especially if you take the time to replay the game. Cuz you know, us goldy are likely to apply "Q then W" instructions as a mantra, and then I see ETCs in my games sliding in the whole team times and times to try to w someone closer to us, while hes actually isolating himself more then isolating someone... anyways keep up the good work

@@etudepleineconsciencecogni5816 That's up to the viewer though. Your point is valid but context matters. I don't want to sound elitist but Fan is cray good at this. Pally delivers excellent first steps and commentary but isn't really that good. Anyone struggling with ETC should start with Pally, check out Kala, then transition to the extreme stuff. You need a strong grasp of fundamentals before you understand Grubby / Fan / Rich games. They will give nice insight and sometimes explain stuff but it's generally more complex, like how to time siege camps after the enemy so yours is pushing during objective. Pally really does a great job of explaining all the basics. What's Q, what does the character do, why pick that talent, etc. (lol), and as such, he is MUCH better for beginners. When players understand the game better, there isn't much to misunderstand here. Fan shows where ETC should have stunned, push from here to there, tower range, team distance, he clarifies pretty understandably if you know what ETC does and how he works. And I mean, even Pally plays a mean ETC and demonstrates the proper use and timing of Q and W. My man Pally represent. It becomes clear that Q and W are to be timed separately but the combo is there for a reason. TL;DR: Nah, not Fan's job.

Dude go watch Fan play ETC. Looks like it's one of his top tanks and he really crushing it on the hero. Creates opportunists all the time for his team

It’s so easy to criticise someone when reviewing his replay step by step, playing and pausing, and chat takes the pitchforks out “yeah he’s so bad” lmao you died several times why don’t you review yourself

That's just missing the mark. The problem was apparent in-game and the replay was a proper tool for the viewers to learn. It's not like he finds new stuff to rant about. He had one concise point to make and proved it via replay. That's science, yo. It would also be nonsensical to talk about Valla deaths without a peel tank. Obviously, if the tank doesn't play, the team dies. That's why there is a tank. So the team doesn't die, that's his role. It'd be like analyzing a quickmatch where everybody is at fault because there is no composition in the first place. Valla's job is dealing damage and Valla did that. Healer heals, tank peels, damage keels. Easy as one two three Ee Tee Cee.
