Basic training information for Carrier reefer units.
Reefer care and temperature settings:
Our refrigeration units should always be set at 18 degrees. A lower setting will require the unit to run much longer after the door has been opened. Again, remember to keep the truck doors closed as much as possible during the delivery process.
Make sure the fan assembly inside the box is checked daily for plastic or debris that has been pulled into the unit. Any obstructions or reductions in airflow can cause serious damage to the unit. If the unit is not maintaining temperature, is making noise, or has any other obvious problems, the unit should be shut down and serviced immediately to avoid damaging the unit. For example, a unit with low or no Freon can destroy a very expensive compressor. A rattling fan can come apart and destroy the unit. We have had both things happen in the past.
