This was a great example of how important it is to build a gameplan and execute it well. Many players may have been swayed by cards like research outpost in the mid-game and lose track of what they want to do in a game against an opponent with a stronger engine (which they sacrificed a lot of early game power with the standard project powers), but you kept it plain and straightforward to not let the opponent catch up, great gameplay. Thanks for the showcase!

@@alexandergibe1172 yeah, caretaker is a card that would tempt a lot of people I think. But I value the thermalist award being secured rather than 2 TR for 6mc.

Such a great game for me to learn from! I think I always trap myself into picking and playing the good cards even when they don't match my gameplan and that was a great showcase of doing the exact opposite. Also I was wondering if you're playing your games in Real-time or Turn-based ?
@ThreadPacifistTM4 күн бұрын
Glad to hear it was helpful. I play my games in real time. Turn based is too slow for me. This game took me 8 min and 50 seconds for my moves. One of many benefits of a straightforward terraforming setup.

Well played by you, questionable from the opponent. Very instructive rush game with minimum cards. Electrocat was not really good economy bust for the opponent, even in gen 2. He paid 11+3+17 = 31mc for 5mc prod, will pay back in gen 8 while game ended in gen 9. The good part of this play was the action, some liquidity for his steel and help with builder. Virus vs UMNI action was equal play, not +1 mc for Virus. You forgot that action gives TR and +1 prod, and you can sell the card

Fair point on the virus vs UNMI action.

I don't think Heat Trappers is good to play against you at this point. It's minus 1 point for an energy. The heat doesn't matter because you're at 8 still and it seems as though heat will finish well before oxygen. Good spot-on Tundra Farming, though. I don't think I'd have picked and kept it there but in this situation, I think it's actually "good."

11:00 Couldn't you have simply blown up the plants that GIA gives him by letting Arctic Algae proc first? That way you secure both heat prods from the track.
@ThreadPacifistTM3 күн бұрын
Yes, I could have. I don't think I explained it very well in my video. My hope was that he would make a city or place a tile planning on a conversion and then I'd blow it up. It's a bit greedy on my part, but making him go for semi inefficient plan for a conversion seemed good. Turned out to be wrong, but ah well

Isn't Research Outpost still worth playing with a terraforming rush strategy, just to have a high value destination for your plants, make your greenhouses better, etc.?
@ThreadPacifistTM3 күн бұрын
Research outpost can fit into any strategy, but in this case, it just didn't seem worth it given game tempo and available placement.

I have stolen a lot of 3 players game as UNMI or Helion with a similar game plan. It is hard to compete with a good old terraforming engine in Prelude.
