Valley woman recalls terrifying encounter as owl attempts to attack her dog

The Scottsdale woman was on a walk when they encountered the owl perched on a tree. The owl flew toward them trying to get her dog.

Listen you live in Arizona, Coyotes and owls will take out potentially any small creature. You should always have your dog on a leash and never intentionally let your cats or dogs out alone on the back porch unattended even for a minute . We have also been out with our small dog and come across them and sat and watched taking pictures and even past one on the stop sign and have been just a few feet away, but I am always off my phone and paying attention just in case. The wildlife is awesome down here.

Have friend that lives in Phoenix, he would walk his dog and every time he got near a shrub by the sidewalk, the dog would go wide, so finally he looked in the shrub and there he saw a coyote

We have our cat stay outside until midnight and last night, she let out a scream, one of fear, I opened the slider, she came in like a light, half way through the house she turns around to see if it is following her, but she is still running at full speed, I turned around to see what scared her so bad, I could not see what it was, it took us 15 minutes to find her in the house. Yeah she is in at night now. We do have hawks, owls, bobcats and mountain lions oh my.

A 3 pound owl that eats 10 pound cats, they just said that. Amazing! If I remember correctly, eagles talons are the size of bear claws. Pound for pound, raptors are even more dangerous than leopards by far, and leopards make just about anything look weak and helpless. 3 pounds of wings, eyes, and talons of terror. If raptors were 30 pounds, we never would have existed.

A Chihuahua was forced on me. Whenever I take it outside I’m always keeping an eye on the sky. Eagles, Owls, Hawks. I’ve heard horror stories of people taking their dogs outside in the yard one second their running next thing you know, Gone!
