The other shills are comparing these without really showing that the NEO is lower priced because it really is a less feature rich model (lower resolution, lower wind resistance, 1 axis gimbal, no obstacle avoidance, smaller sensor, specs advising to avoid water and snow, etc.) My favorite things on your review were the charts showing the various specs and pricing on accessories. This is really helpful in budget planning where to spend money. When you add the accessories, the price gap narrows. You can also puchase the unit that suits your needs best and plan fir accessories later. I want to create more professional results with a compact solution. I ordered the Hover Pro Max based on the extensive features. I still might buy the DJI NEO or mini later for the FPV, but that's it.

Hi! Totally. I say throughout either in this one of my other, how I think the NEO is the prefect drone for many many people. I even think if you are gonna spend that much money on the MAX its hard to shy away from DJI Mavic. I am in the same boat I got the MAX and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it just did a review on it, but I kinda want the NEO as well just to fly and have fun and not worry about the expensive MAX. You being a snowboarder, how is this drone on the slopes? I read that for most drones it’s hard to follow skiers and snowboarder down the mountain if they have no belly-sensors for drone-to-earth distance. Did you try it out yet?

@@Seattle808 me too! As you know its gonna be tough to get it on slopes here in USA, but, pre-season if we get snow before they open I will skin up there and ride down with it. If not I will kick it in backcountry and give it the old 1 and 2's. I suspect during season, its gonna be for the BC they are pretty militaint here about drones in the park and such. I am finishing up some testing today and I will have the review out today or tomorrow. Couple more tests (having one battery blows) and then I will have my full review.

thanks for the review, I have the Hover AirX1and want the Hover Air X1Pro now as the battery is longer, it does slo-mo and goes over water now, and I can use it easily myself, I also have the DJI Mini 4 which my hubby flys for me, he is still learning and needs to know how to not be quick moving the controls, but that is why the Hover works for me

Love it! Yea there is a cinematic setting on the DJI mini 4 that makes that slow movement easy not sure if he is using it. Just slows down the inputs so you dont get all hurky jerky like I am know to do. I too found the Airx1 OG to be have a dismal battery life, I am hoping that changes a bit with these new ones. I am super amped to get the MAX should be here by end of month. The PRO is rad too, I think you will have such a good time with it. As a born and raised Appalachian folk, I assume you are in the Smokies and its awesome you found this and watched it. Appreciate the comment and watch greatly. Cheers!

The biggest takeaway is Hoverair is still in its own lane. As an adventure cyclist one of the biggest things for me was the Neo losing its subject at 15mph. Also the image quality. But dang that price! Thanks for the sum up man!

Hello, thank you for the informative video with many important distinctions. I don't have a drone yet and the choice would clearly be the Hover. However, my focus is on photos and occasionally videos. Would you still recommend that I invest in a drone? We go hiking, cycling, skiing, trail running and kiting. I like to take pictures of the family. When I'm trail running on my own, a video section would also be cool. Then there's the question of which kit the Hover Air X1 Pro Max. Many thanks for a tip.

Heck ya man, I can't wait to get mine either. DJI is in a tough spot and I suspect we wont see a Neo 2 that holds a candle to even these models of hoover. Reason, why would they put the same size sensor that the Mavic has, and give us 4K 120 when its not until you get to the Mavic series that you get true 120fps. Plus I think not having obstacle avoidance folks are going to be pretty ticked off with two issues, crashes and not being able to follow you as well as the hoover due to the hoovers beacon. Honestly its like saying a kids electric jeep is a jeep. LOL.

I got to thinking about slow motion, IDK about you, and I can guess by seeing much of your work. I don't use slo mo that much. I think for most average folks who are not camera nerds the DJI will prob sell much better.

It was a pretty easy decision for me to order tne Hover X1 Pro with Beacon as I've had the X1 for past year and knew i wanted more speed, performance and video quality and the Neo isnt it. Too slow like the X1 and video isn't good enough for my needs. So after the Neo release and i saw how limited it was, i sold my X1on eBay (got more than the cost of a new Neo) and jumped on Indiegogo to order the X1 Pro. Decided i dont need 8K of the ProMax but want that 42kph follow speed and the features of the Beacon. Neo is dirt cheap but its not up to what i need it to do.

My understanding is that it actually pulls the GPS data from your phone. They state it has GPS but its looking like its coming from phone and not the drone. Zero Zero did say they will be instituting no fly zones and geo fencing but it remains to be seen.

Hi! So, its depends on budget and if you want pretty good video quality or just ok video quality. If you have a big budget, and are concerned with high quality video the Hover X1 Pro Max is the way to go. If you have a limited budget go with the NEO, if you have a medium budget go with the Hover x1 Pro. If you are going to do a good bit of follows on say a bike on trails, well any of the Hovers track way way way better than the Neo and the Hover has obstacle avoidance the NEO does not. As far as cameras on the Pro vs Neo they pretty much the same. If you are looking to fly manually a lot I would lean into Neo, it has larger range in manual then the Hover. The other advantage is any accessories like batteries or controller are way way less expensive on the DJI side than that of the Hover series. Hope that helps.

Thanks for your comparison and opinion. I was debating to get the neo or pro max but neo disappoints me with not so good obstacles avoiding capabilities. I want a drone that can follow me well while running down hills in the woods. I will wait for the pro max in October. The neo is good though with the fpv but I think I will save enough money to get the avata 2 in the near future for that😂

There are no side sensors on either the X1 Pro or Pro Max, just downward and rear. The Pro has a rear proximity sensor however the Pro Max also has a rear vision based sensor too.

Odd the documentation says both rear and side protection. I seen them avoid obstacles so I think you may be wrong on that :). I'll double check but spec sheet says rear side obstacle avoidence.

Best compiled info yet! Very unbiased and detailed. Yes, if this is your very first drone, the NEO hands down before going to a Hover Pro. IMO the NEO is a safe TOY that's going to be a lot of fun. But if you want to capture important memories from vacations, trips, or events that well..will cost you a large investment to begin with, then IMO invest in something like the Hover Pro/Pro Max. You're not going to go cheap on travel, so why go cheap on memories and have them memorialized in cheap grainy HORRIBLE footage. No social media influencer will use the footage from the NEO even for B-Roll when everything else is filmed by a Gopro, Action 4-5, etc.,NO Brainer to me. Save up, spend the extra doh, which in the long run you will be glad you did. Buy it Nice or buy the NEO twice when version 2 comes out. Awesome Review Brother!

I didn't really do a great job of stressing the tracking of the Hover but I think that hands down, blows the NEO out of the water. I sold my Hover X1 while i still get a decent price (got more on eBay last weekend than the cost of a new Neo) and ordered the Hover X1 Pro with Beacon from the Indiegogo program. X1 was a fun start into this autonomous thing but new I needed more speed and better video quality for my needs. No point going cheap. If someone really wants the Neo they should wait a year and DJI will release a better Neo 2.

@@shred3005 exactly Brother 💯! I loved my X1. The tracking was great from the front and rear. I honestly used it darn near every day even while flying my FPV drones. But it did have a problem with the Omni terrain, and I eventually lost it to the sea gods! 😂 Hoverair have fix all the issues I’ve had, and not in increments like DJI, but exponentially! I ordered the promax with Beacon, spare battery, controller and ND Filters. All that said, it still came out to be less than my DJI mini 3 Pro when I first bought it. Have a great weekend, brother! I can’t wait to see all the footage and everyone puts out with the Hover Pro!

@@scottgivens27 I think these Pro and ProMax are going to be a massive step and really create great action video as well as travel. The speeds and tracking algorithms and video quality is going to help create some fun stuff. Having a controller for my DJI Mini always stood in the way of getting the type of footage I wanted on my adventure / wilderness bike rides. The X1 was so much easier to pack in my frame bag and get it up fast and easy to get the action. It was just too slow for the fun stuff. I’m planning a bike trip through Jordan to Petra next year, in the desert and mountains and minimal size but high performance is key to my photographic gear for the trip. I think the X1 Pro will be great for it. Maybe I should have put myself down for the ProMax. 🤷‍♂️

It's only the X1 pro Max that can perform vertical imaging/mode. Plus, the ProMax has an additional rear sensor than the Pro

The Pro and Pro Max both have a proximity sensor on the back. The Pro Max also has an additional "vision sensor." This information is publicly available and can be easily found online.

The vertical option is available. However, the information is not easily accessible. I discovered this information in a forum directly with ZoroZero Robotics themselves. I believe it is related to the file size/pixel (im not photography savy) of the Hover X1 Max. therefore, they have sufficient data to crop into the image which doesnt affect the image quality. I.e 'vertical'. All this shouldn't stop anyone from cropping their videos tho. Hmmmm. 🤨 Reflecting on what I've mentioned , this sounds more like software than hardware. So you could be right.. both options may be able to be used vertical using the app or something

I just did a search on sensor and I found 4 different answers ...dooohhh.....But it is VERY possible the Pro may have more, I just can't confirm or deny it at this time. That's a big issue with Hover in my mind, they have been cagey with details and specifics on many things IMO. But overall, the most important is to me, DJI DOES NOT and both hoover models do. The details are very important but the outcome to me is have have not.

Great review with a lot of details. Some things were purely subjective but seeing the videos you put there with Neo losing track and kinda meh picture quality I am glad I went to Hoverair Pro. My only regret is I didn't go with Pro Max but this will be my first drone. I just wonder how usable it will be in real life for let's say skiing or snowboarding. I am not sure how many resorts will let you fly on the slopes with drone flying over and following you. I also don't have any experience with video editing, color grading etc. Will have to look it up somewhere in KZbin. Last thing is I missed the best price on Indiegogo due to fact that I don't have good experience with crowdfounding projects.

I do a good bit of backcounty so they where I'll use it. Sad but I get it can you imagine all the drones is they let us at resorts? Re editing and color grading I'm self taught too. So don't worry it's not to hard to learn. I use Capcut on my desktop super easy to use and learn. I know it's a bit of a bummer about the pro but it's still a pretty awesome machine and you can always sell it later and upgrade. Don't worry about zero zero crowd campaign. I want to use it mostly for bike and maybe some hiking. I believe zero zero robotics will deliver as this is not their first campaign and they got lot of money already. I got burnt on one project before on KS. Looking back I don't think those guys ever intended to sent us anything. Even a bad experience is still experience

my main reason for ordering the Hover X1 Max Pro was for the ability for my kids to use it when they snowboard. Already spent over $1000 on the pre-order and have been very disappointedb in the lack of coverage or video showing the hover and snow situations . Don't disagree at all, and while I am pretty floored with some of the footage I have seen from the MAX I am not to keen on what I have seen coming out of the pro. I am a snowboarder as well and I think the big win will be the tracking with the beacon. Its faster and will lock on better. I know its hard but be patient mate, I have a good feeling you and your kids will end up happy. It's always "ICKY" with crowdfunds but I do believe Zero Zero is a solid company that cares and listens. But you are right I too feel at this point we should see more footy it doesn't instill confidence.

Yea that's not fast and even so that's if you buy the additional charger. Out of the box the x1s have true fast charging at 15 min. But to be fair it's expected due to great price of neo :)

I've heard too many sad and scary stories about Indiegogo not delivering on what they say. For example, the trailer for a product might not accurately reflect the finished product, and the company does nothing to protect the customer. Also, there are many stories about campaigns taking forever to ship, up to a year, claiming logistic reasons. I think I will wait for the release and see if it can do what it promises. It will only be $200-$300 more, but if it ends up not delivering, then I am down $900-$1000, which is worse in my eyes.

You can not make a compassion with hover. The Neo ist a lower configuration. Sie have a lot of posibility with a controller. She is for beginners and simple camera views. The Hover is mare a Camera Drone with the follow me track modus. She is settled between the Neo and the Mini 4 pro. So the reason to buy is, what is your individual priority. But the new hover have on this time noch C0 classification. And so you can’t buy the drone in Europe. But I think his problem is in the pipeline.

@@HillPhantom I don't buy paper specs. I buy performance. That's why I always wait for reviews of the actual product before I buy. Buy both. Fly both. Then make a video comparing the two.
