Man I sure appreciate this video and your responding to comments and questions. Our ‘15 ram has almost 156000 and believe never has been changed(drop and fill or flushed). Also have been told if you’re not sure then leave it alone. Sealed. I don’t trust that strategy. Would think at least drop and fill would be a good thing. And with fresh fluid. Your video certainly makes it tempting for even me to diy, but with cost of this particular fluid and pan/filter it’s also tempting to let dealer do it. Think I was quoted 300 and something. Do you think that’s somewhat reasonable?

The transmission completely empty holds I believe 8 and a half quarts of fluid. Not cheap for the fluid also. It’s imported. I ran the transmission on just 6 quarts for long time and it handled it. Always put in the amount of fluid it requires of course. When I get to my next fluid service I’m doing so. I’d say I’m running 6 and a half quarts (possible excess fluid) in my ram’s transmission right now.
@ValleyMobileAutomotive12 күн бұрын
@@JacksonGuitarsPlayer03 I like to measure what came out. If there aren't any fluid leaks then that should be a good number to start with. On these you can't really over fill because it will just spill out of the fill plug. I guess if you filled it when it was cold then you could overfill it but I don't know by how much.
@JacksonGuitarsPlayer0312 күн бұрын
@ true if it’s cold all the fluid is in the drain pan. If it’s warm fluid is still in the transmission same as when you do engine oil change. You have to make sure the fluid level is correct for this transmission or any transmission or engine. I’m pretty sure though this holds 8 and a half quarts of fluid completely you have to put that much in there until a steady stream of fluid comes out of the fill plug then you tighten it up then your all set. I hear you have to flush the transmission I think, maybe that’s with flushing it out completely to get completely new fluid in it. Normal drain and refill is probably why it only took 6 quarts. Eh transmissions can be tricky to get the fluid situated I guess. I rebuilt many before I’m not a transmission mechanic solely but I have cracked open cases and rebuilt and replaced and fixed internal parts on cars to big rigs.
