The BVS message you described from 6:12 is very close to what it is used for actually! In software dev this is unit testing, in game dev, we have it in a form called BVT, standing for Build Verification Testing, BVS sounds similar to Build Verification System. We use it in game development to automatically test every single system in the game. This is so that throughout the thousands of changes we make during development, these tests will tell us if any changes we made during development broke anything pre-existing so we don't get stuck bug fixing in circles. I'd assume this flag you saw was a method (which you described very accurately) to test that bomb planting works as intended. Sounds like they left the note there so that no one blocks it up where it would be made impossible for the automated test bot to walk there and plant, which could trigger a false positive saying that the bomb plant system is broken when its just blocked up. Thought it was cool to see you get it correct even though you didn't know exactly what it is, and so I wanted to let you know!

This is cool, I like the idea of promoting community content for Valorant similar to what kept CSGO alive for so long. I like the idea of split being overcast and rainy, I feel like adding lights would help against the desaturated pallet and give more contrast to surfaces and choke points. Also, those "lazy waist high fences" are there so you can throw weapons out of the map, the majority of these being located in team spawns. I feel like Valorants visual language is great at indicating what is outside of the game boundaries. I wouldn't say the developers are lazy in the slightest. A lot of testing and iteration goes into the maps, these are intentional design decisions.
@ares60542 жыл бұрын
I think some parts of the devs are lazy. There's bugs from long ago that remains unfixed and also their promise of a replay system that is vital for a competitive game and they ended up saying "We're not gonna do it tbh"
@Gamerbdog2 жыл бұрын
@@ares6054 Okay a few things here to keep in mind. Valorant is a live service game, it is constantly being updated, fine tuned and polished, and given updated content (maps, skins, agents). Valorant is also a game that is heavily optimized so it can be accessible and meet the demands of most PCs, this requires a lot of fine tunning and can be hard to design around. Also, Valorant itself is comprised of a lot of different teams that specialize on different parts of the games, theres a lot of moving parts, games are complicated, its not just some massive corp working on everything, and a lot of technical shit comes up. They never said they weren't going to do it, they said it wasn't a priority. I guarantee you they're constantly research and developing a replay system as well as many other features but keep in mind, while you might not think so, a lot of polish and fine tunning goes into Valorant. The Valorant team has expressed they're constantly listening to player feedback and if you look at any of the past updates it does show. They are constantly looking at ways to develop new systems, they're constantly reeveluating design decisions withing maps and agents. Implementing something like a replay system could cause a lot of issues so I'm sure theyre taking their time with it or if it does cause performance issues and could potentially compromise the competitive integrity of the game they could theoretically claim that the cons of having it there don't justify it being there. There's also plenty of alternative accessible replay system software for the meantime, so that's also partly why it might not be a priority. Its not an essential gameplay feature. Also, this wouldn't be a lazy dev thing, its not like everyone on the team has a final say on what they do with their product. They have rolling deadlines, they have quality standards, these things take time to develop for a live service multiplayer game like Valorant.
