I heard you did many scrims with other teams. Lakia: I felt that EMEA teams had really different team comps. Every team had unique comps involving interesting choices like neon and gekko. Meteor: The moment we arrived, the hardest thing was playing Yoru for the first time. After losing against LOUD, I lost a lot of confidence. So when playing against EDG, the last map was Breeze, and I thought ‘we’re screwed’. But the coaches encouraged me and said, ‘Taeoh, you’re good at Yoru,’ ‘just do what you usually do.’ Karon: For me, I felt that other teams focused on having unique themes or concepts with their comps. It was helpful because I learnt new strategies in defending and when opponents had weird or unexpected comps on stage, I didn’t get scared. *02:03** vs LOUD* Binbon: During the Swiss stage, the most attention was on Karon’s interview - ‘I wasn’t playing when they won champs’. I don’t think you made this up yourself. Lakia: Correct! Karon: I didn’t - it was Munchkin. He was like ‘Interview? Do you want me to teach you how to make it interesting?’ and he suggested that doing it in English would be more fun. Binbon: How was the game against LOUD? Karon: I started the game with the mindset of ‘I’m here so I can block them~’ But since I kept getting hit by Less, my mind became foggy. Munchkin tried to encourage us by saying ‘Guys, you don’t have to be scared! If they are in a disadvantageous situation, they’ll peak anyways, or stack together - so let’s counteract them by stacking together.’ I think it was a tough game, but we were able to win. Lakia: We won because Karon clutch diffused, right? Meteor: I think that was the reason we won all the games that day. Karon: I was like ‘nice ~ kimochi~’ and started diffusing, but he didn’t come - so I was like ‘hell yeah~’ and stood up. Meteor: Since we won the first map like that, it could’ve affected LOUD mentally, but we got destroyed in the second map. I was wide awake after that and won the third map. But the first thing I thought was ‘if we meet them again, could we still win?’ Lakia: LOUD kept winning and climbing up - when they got eliminated, I was rather relieved. Binbon: So what you’re saying is that you don’t want to meet LOUD again? Lakia: For me, I really felt that way. *03:23** vs EDG* Binbon: How was playing against EDG? Meteor: What I was most scared of was that when we scrimmed against EDG, we were both really close (50/50). So I thought that the winner depended entirely on whoever had the better condition. Lakia: During the first set, we weren’t playing in sync, and there were many mistakes with the details we usually get right. So after losing that, I think for the 2nd and 3rd map, we just flowed well and won. Karon: When we were playing on Icebox, I was thinking ‘let’s just let them win this map.’ Everyone: ??? (LMAO) Meteor: Even when the game wasn’t finished?! Binbon: Did you say that to others?? Karon: No, I was thinking that to myself. My aim wasn’t good, and I was thinking I should just play together as a team next map. Meteor: From listening to what you just said, you are trash! While others were trying their best, you were thinking that alone..! Karon: I’m not saying I wasn’t trying my best! All my hyungs were losing all the shot fights - which was unusual! So it just felt like we had no choice but to let go of the first set. They were the ones who first mentioned how they were losing the shot fights - ‘our shots are not good.’ But suddenly, we saw potential after t3xture’s ghost 3k on Split, and this energy carried us to Lakia’s insane ult in map 3. *04:36** vs PRX* Lakia: I misunderstood the brackets and I said, ‘Nice! We’re not playing against PRX!’ But Meteor told me it was PRX, and I was like, ‘ah...’ Binbon: What are the most memorable scenes? Meteor: Making a 2k with OP and a 1k with a sheriff on Lotus. Binbon: To win, there was no other way but that - winning through shots. Lakia: I freaked out because he suddenly used the sheriff. Karon: My paranoia + teleport in Split. *05:20** Masters Grand Finals* Binbon: And finally, you met SEN in the finals. Lakia: It would’ve worked out if we played as we used to. Meteor: We lost so many rounds we could’ve won and even lost the map we could've won - Bind, Split - we even won Split before, so I guess we just shattered. Binbon: How did you feel (Karon) when you heard that you’ll be playing against SEN? Karon: In my heart, it was a 3:0. But the nightmare started on Breeze - our calls got messy, and we weren’t playing well, with messy shots, and this continued till the end. Meteor: I couldn’t get myself together on the 5th map (Icebox). I played 4 different agents - Jett, Yoru, Killjoy, and Cypher. I couldn’t concentrate at all during the 5th map. Lakia: Personally, I found it even more unfortunate - I could’ve made the last map my stage. Even if Meteor was underperforming, I was thinking ‘I need to do it for the team - I really need to do well’ but … I also died : D Karon: My physical condition was very bad. I was so dizzy. I couldn’t even sleep - I was just shutting my eyes. When I went on stage, my vision was very blurry - during the 5th set, I couldn’t concentrate to the extent that I couldn’t even differentiate between opponents and my team. I had a severe headache that felt as if my head was going to break. I regret so much. Binbon: I believe that you learned things from experiencing the first finals in an international event. I’m curious, what’s the thing you felt the most? Karon: Personally, taking care of our physical conditions - exercising. Everyone looked exhausted, and I believe we’ve lacked stamina and we really need to exercise. I’ve strongly felt that in order to have a longer career, we need to exercise. Technically, it is true, but I don’t carry myself with an attitude of ‘I’m the best!’ Binbon: There were many comments about your consistency (ups and downs) during games-how do you control and take care of it? Lakia: Typically, I'd play slyly or as part of a team, but GEN.G prefers direct aim battles and excels at it. So, I believe I also developed a strong urge towards that style. Solo encouraged me by saying something like, ‘You’re at the bottom anyways, so just play comfortably,’ and I think this helped me prepare well. *08:12** Questions for Karon* Binbon: Many people are curious about Karon’s military experience - where did you go, and is it true that you served fully in the military? Karon: I was part of the 32nd Infantry Division (full-time). I applied for frontline duty, but somehow I ended up in reserve service. 진짜 이게 아시아권 선수들은 힘들만 한게 이번 마드리드..대회 시간이 다 새벽이라 시차적응 하기도 전에 계속 일정 타이트 했고 심지어 결승은 게임 길어지면 카론 선수 말한대로 피곤하면 시야도 흐려지고 집중력 떨어지니까 변명 아닌 변명이지만 컨디션 차이가 너무 큼 그래서 더 아쉬웠던 대회

다들 관리가 많이 중요한게.. 결승 전까지는 퍼시픽, 마드리드 게임과 크게 다를 거 없이 관중들 앞에서 경기하는 정도였겠지만, 결승이라는 중압감, 뷰어쉽에서도 나오지만 본고장이라 센티넬 응원하는 사람들까지 큰 함성까지 합쳐져서 안 좋았던 몸 컨디션이 터진 듯.. 그러면서 게임 집중도 흐려지도, 잘 잡던 멘탈도 못 잡고 아마 많이 힘들었을 듯. 다음 국제대회 때는 더 잘 준비해서 더 좋은 성적 내면 좋을 듯.
