VALUE PACKS GO BOOM!!!💥 2023-24 NBA Hoops Value Packs Review: A Highly Inappropriate Rip

In today's video, I'll be opening and reviewing a box of 2023-24 Panini NBA Hoops Hobby. Hoops brings to the hobby the new rookie class for the first time in their NBA uniforms and that includes Victor Wembanyama, Scoot Henderson, Brandon Miller, Keyonte George, and Ausar and Amen Thompson.
These packs sell for $7-8 in store and online. Each pack contains 30 cards. Expect to find 1 Teal Explosion per pack and 3 non-base cards. Chase after Orange Explosions(#'d/25), SSP Impulse parallels, and Autographs.

🃏🃏🃏 for SET QUALITY/DESIGN/CONFIGURATION: Hear me out here. The Teal and Orange Explosions are some of the best retail parallels out there. Sadly, the hobby generally doesn't share my sentiments. You guys suck!
🃏🃏🃏🃏 for VALUE: The biggest plus the Value Packs have going for them is the price combined with the only reason you're buying these is for Wemby base rookie cards. And on a per dollar basis, these give you the best chance at what your after. Once the Wemby hysteria dies down either because other sets release or he suffers a catasrophic leg injury...knock on wood...I'd drop this rating a notch or two.
🃏🃏 for COLLECTABILITY: What's it like to have a million of something? Not too cool, man. Not to cool. And that's Hoops in a nutshell. When the 2023-24 collecting season comes to an end, NBA Hoops will be sitting at the back of the bus right next to it's best bud Donruss.

Usually when panini says value they mean for them. Value packs the last few years have been terrible. Congratulations on the pulls. Hopefully panini is giving some value on their way out the door

Welcome to the hobby! IMO, yes. A penny sleeve is only a penny. You never know when a rookie will pop. It might be 2-3 years down the road.

Will wemby’s rookie cards increase in value over time and how does that really work, how do cards actually increase in value and what kind of cards should I target to make long term investments?

Every rookie card peaks at release and then begins to dip over the next 2 years unless they win a championship(unlikely to happen). It's a trend that's time tested. Depending on his career, his card prices will adjust from there. If the Spurs are perennial losers, prices will continue to slide. If the Spurs are a winner, they'll trend upwards. Basically, his card prices are the highest, now they will be for the next 2 years minimum. And for what to buy, Prizm is always a safe bet. It'll be his "go-to" RC. Donruss Optic and Select are also good cards. Paper Donruss is a good, inexpensive option.

The Teal and Orange Explosion /25 are beautiful cards, but getting the Player you want is incredibly difficult. 11 Fat Packs could get you near a complete base set. Even the Victor Wembanyama Donruss Rated Rookie will crash even faster than the 277 Hoops RC. 🥸🏀 1980s Action Stars all were ridiculous - Arnold was probably the best.

Love the Explosions but your right. Getting your guy is like winning the lottery. And Arnold is the standard for sure!
