Pippen may be the purest all-around basketball player of all time..Jordan was just an alien and had to learn to believe in and trust his teammates..Pippen learned from Jordan but Jordan also learned from Pippen..ying and yang..synergy..all kind of ingredients go into that perfect cake..Jordan never won without Pippen and vice versa..but Pippen for about a 3-4 stretch was just as good if not better all-around than Michael..but Micheal’s God given gifts and mindset were alien mindset

People give credit to Pippen, Jordan says you can’t say jordan without Pippen. The media and coaches gives him his flowers. The truth is Pippen believes he was on the level as jordan and he wasn’t. Give Jordan anyone with the similar skill set as pippen and would have one chips maybe not 6 but he would have won. This is like saying the other girls from destiny’s child were just as important as Beyoncé and could have replaced Beyoncé and had the same success without her

There just needs to be a reconciliation - Michael said specifically in the last dance, and numerous times over 20 years that Scottie was his greatest teammate and there’s no Michael Jordan without Scottie Pippen Scottie made his mistakes, especially while Michael was gone in 94 and 95 and they were really highlighted for the first time in the last dance, but it was only part of the bigger story that together they were unstoppable Scottie took it too personally and can’t take accountability for it and it’s sad, him and MJ should be good friends forever and appreciate what they helped eachother accomplish MJ is the undisputed GOAT and was the best player in the league by miles before Scottie got to Chicago, but the team success doesn’t happen without Pippen’s arrival and there’s no shame in being a top 20-30 player of all time and the 2nd best player and superstar in his own right on a dynasty

Agree. This is what happens when you let people get in your head. Scottie Pippen seemed to be fine with it at first, and then all of the TV show rhetoric about whomever is the alpha and the number two on different teams got to him, I think. Charles Barley once talked about this saying that people need to quit acting like it’s so bad to be the number two person in a successful situation. He used Scottie Pippen as an example. He said it’s better to have a career like Scottie Pippen then to be the number one on an unsuccessful team. As we can see, Scottie Pippen was named to the top 75 player team, so clearly, he has cemented his place in NBA history.

Which is exactly what MJ has said on multiple occasions. But at the end of the day MJ is the GOAT and Pippen is and apparently will remain very bitter until he takes his last breath. And yet he keeps saying “look at all of MY accolades” instead of mentioning Dennis,Luk, Horace, Steve. At least MJ gives credit to his fellow players instead of “look at ME”
@strawhatsanji4985
@strawhatsanji4985 11 күн бұрын
@shanewoods1980 Yes, he's bitter, and has a right to be, he got six rings and zero credit. When someone give him credit they go to Jordan is the best 6 seconds after. Because Jordan wanted him like that, now look at the others, Steph has 4 rings, but everyone gives Klay and Draymond almost the same amount of respect. Lebron has 4 rings but everyone gives D Wade and Bosh respect. When all of these guys have interviews, it's about them. Everytime Pippen does a interview 80% is about Jordan. Do you have any idea how irritating that will be for anyone. For someone to win as much as he did and get next to zero credit will become bitter. Stop hold Jordan at god like status and think about it from a human perspective. Jordan and the media made sure he was the only one covered. Because no matter how good Steph he always made sure Klay and Draymond got their flowers and it's the complete opposite with how Jordan treated his other teammates. It's like praise me for 50 mins, then just before you leave don't forget Pippen, that's sayimg something so they can't say you didn't give them credit. You know what people call that, giving someone scraps.

Naaa. At this round he's completely right. The goat debate is completely BS and not necessary. They are all great players, maybe u can compare the players who in the same role, but it would be a tough pick in any case because their succes depends on the other teamates. I don't agree with him when he talks about individual sports because even in individual sports it's basically an impossible pick. For example in tennis it all depends on matchups and court type... You now hear about djokovic being the greatest because he has more slams... But nobody remembers for example that 2 slams are played on hard court... Imagine if 2 of them were played on clay... Nadal would have literally doubled up his slams, so that does make him better than djokovic? I mean, who knows, we can say they are super great players, but that's it. Just enjoy their greatness, it's enough. You can have your preferences tho, but again that's it

The period that Pippen brings up, the NBA was having a resurgence so they promoted teams and rivalrys. They also highlighted the best players and it's star players. The debate about who was the GOAT was born as the game grew in popularity. The debate for greatest team/teams also grew as the league. So it really doesn't matter when it started, we all have had a favorite player. Dr. J was a great player, but also a fan favorite. One of the most popular players to play the game. Pippen is forgetting how his teammate Michael Jordan elevated the league to it's highest levels through his performance and popularity.

Scottie was right in a sense, cause one individual can't win a title on their own. MJ tried for 6 years and couldn't do it. Lebron by himself in his early years in Cleveland couldn't do it. Only when they got the pieces to make a great team that MJ was able to get over that hump and stayed at the top. Unlike MJ who stayed in one place to build a dynasty, Lebron went 'chasing' when he teamed up with Wade & Bosh in Miami. That's the difference between MJ & Lebron. What Scottie was trying to say even if he didn't want to admit it was MJ is the best individual player which is why he was picked 1st by Scottie if he had to build a team but again by himself MJ couldn't do it alone....no one can.

He saw Jordan’s potential to be for the nba. Let’s keep this in context. West baylor and doc played Jordan’s position and that’s why he was being compared. You don’t hear about them in Amy goat debates. Maybe doc but yes Jordan was compared off of potential. Just like Caitlin Clark. To be in the Goat conversation for Me: A player must dominate on both side " Offensively & Defensively: for at Least 10 years or more and close to the time the Player was playing and the Awards & Accolades that backs that up both doing those years of dominance and Lead the League in most of the Statistical Categories in that time as well. Offensively: Can maintain 25 points or more consistently in the Regular Seasons & Play-Offs and have Scoring Titles: Defensively: Leading in 2 or All 3 of the Defensive Stats Categories & Selected to the All-NBA team & can have a DPOTY which is a bonus. Awards, Honors & Accolades to back up those results and the rarest of the Awards, Honors & Accolades like the Annual Awards, which are the hardest & rarest to get and the Anniversary Honor. In Essence, Scottie is saying he is a part of the greatest team of all time. For the most part, Pippen didn't allow his ego to get to the best of him in Chicago, like most players do in todays league. Many players today can learn a lot from Pippen in just being a great 2 Way player and a great teammate and a great leader on the Defensive end of the ball. Also, players today can learn from Pippen in regard to the narrative of the #1 guy and the #2 guy and who's team it is. ie. Batman and Robin narrative when the media and fanatics decrease the value of the Co-Captain and other valuable role players on the team. I watched Chicago many times in the 90's make a 17-2 run or 20-7 run in the second half with Scottie, Paxson, Horace, Hodges and Bill Wennington ballin like crazy.......as a Unit. All with Jordan on the bench resting. Basketball is team sport with individuals who are learning to play and execute as a unit. A Unit: any group of things or persons regarded as an Entity: One of the individuals or groups that together constitute a Whole. Some Fans are just ignorant as fuck and the media feeds off their ignorance with fake narratives that creates separation within a team. Case and point ....... Kyrie Irving. Imagine if he stayed with the Cavs. #lmao I want to be Batman. Kyrie discovered that being batman is different and requires way more discipline and leadership skills. But Imagine if he stayed with the Cavs. Whew. No team has 3peated since Kobe and Shaq over 20 years ago. Kobe studied Pippen. Kobe studied everyone and had mentors and balanced his ego so he could ask questions to learn. For the Fans, it's all about the star, the #1 guy. Fans don't care about Defense. Lebron surely doesn't. Jordan, Kobe and Scottie did. All teams have Captains and Co-Captains but in this world, no one gives af about the Co-Captain. TNT refers to them as the Others. #smh Jordan and Pippen as leaders of the Bulls were a force on both sides of the floor and it inspired their teammates to give their all on both ends of the floor. Thats what creates Teams with Winning Finals Records, 3peats and Dynasties.

Great teams will always have a superstar player. Which means if that player wasn’t there that team wouldn’t be considered a great team. This is no knock on Scottie but he he bulls could have relaxed Scottie with another allstar player and the bulls still win. Role players compliment the superstar player. Scottie was a great complimentary player to Jordan and ended up being an all around great player. He prides himself on playing the game “The right way”, but what he does t realize is he had no choice. Pippin couldn’t go out there and average 35 a game and still be a great defender. Being on the court with MJ tremendously helped his game

@gravy5721 Well if Jordan's the closer why did it take seven seasons for him to win a title. LeBron needed teammates to win and Jordan needed teammates to win it's sad that Jordan fans have to belittle LeBron in order to elevate Jordan. The real reason Jordan fans bash LeBron so much is to draw attention away from a Jordan vs Kobe comparison which Jordan would lose.

@JimSib1 No one needs to belittle Lebron to boost Jordan because Jordan was and still is the standard. If I recall, Lebron said, "I'm chasing the ghost of Michael Jordan." Lastly, no one considers Kobe better than Jordan except die-hard Laker fans. You got it mixed up. Lebron fans are the ones who hate Kobes' name being brought up. Before anyone can touch MJ, they gotta get past Kobe first, hes the closest thing to Jordan anyone has seen, but people like to pretend like he didn't exist after he passed away. May he rest in peace.

David Stern became NBA Commissioner in 1984. Stern is the one who started to promote individual players more so than the teams and team rivalries. This is what Scottie was getting at when he asked the question about who was the GOAT in the 80's. That GOAT stuff really started with the rise of Michael Jordan. Before Jordan's ascent, you would hear names like Wilt and Kareemm Dr J as the best players. But the GOAT stuff really started in the era of Michael, due to how the league itself was being marketed around that time.

I listened to basically the whole interview - I just think Scottie comes off as someone who is just trying to protect his corner of the world. He acknowledges the greatness of Michael Jordan, but just wants to carve out his own piece as someone who was integral to those 6x Championships as well. It's Michael/Scottie/Rodman as the trio. Michael was the greatest player, but he needed the greatest right hand man (Scottie) and Rodman (the X Factor) to make it all come together. The respect for the 2nd man / right hand man I think is not so often encouraged in this day and age. It's either you are the ONE, or you are worthless essentially. In team sports, every great ONE always had a phenomenal number TWO. When Scottie talked about pairing with Clyde Drexler, or Dominique Wilkins, that 100% makes sense and is believable when it comes to whether Scottie would influence Championships with those 2. Even with Kobe Bryant and Scottie, you might get similar results. Scottie is the best Right Hand Man in History and I think this needs to be something we acknowledge. You don't have to be the #1, if you are a phenomenal #2 and can pick your #1 you back. You literally have more influence over how far a team is going to go.

Pippen has a fantastic point on the "Team Sports" surround the most gifted player with an avg or below team and they don't usually go very far. Jordan was electric for sure, but he did rely on the other four to put him in those positions to shine. Pippen was great. He was consistent and stayed put. Jordan had to have baseball, a retirement and then unretired. Scotty stayed in one spot. Those two with Rodman was special. To support the Team concept, and use baseball since PBD mentioned it, Mike Trout and Ohtani never made any playoffs, due to the other 38 roster spots being league average, at best. But Trout and Ohtani were spectacular. I feel bad for Mike Trout in a way. He is a very special player up there in top five all time in the end. Ohtani is still proving it, just now on an all-star team.

Pippen came into the league with the best coach and best player by far. Over time they ended up getting pieces that made them obviously the best team. LeBron has only had the best team 2 times and still went to the finals almost every year in his prime. Pippen had his chance in Chicago Portland and Houston and came up short leading his own team.
