More and more people might face a tough time in retirement. Low-paying jobs, inflation, and high rents make it hard to save. Now, middle-class Americans find it tough to own a home too, leaving them without a place to retire.

The increasing prices have impacted my plan to retire at 62, work part-time, and save for the future. I'm concerned about whether those who navigated the 2008 financial crisis had an easier time than I am currently experiencing. The combination of stock market volatility and a decrease in income is causing anxiety about whether I'll have sufficient funds for retirement.

This is precisely why I like having a portfolio coach guide my day-to-day market decisions: with their extensive knowledge of going long and short at the same time, using risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying it off as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, their skillset makes it nearly impossible for them to underperform. I've been utilizing a portfolio coach for more than two years, and I've made over $800,000.

I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for...

I bought my house in 2021, and my household income has tripled since then. We are not struggling any less than we were with three times the money. My mortgage is $900 per month. If i bought my house now, it would be $2500 per month and i wouldn't qualify for the loan. Anytime some older person tells you to just work harder, you KNOW that person has virtually no relationship with the current reality. They made their money in a different time and in a different world. *looking at you Tom and PBD. I love ya, but you guys sound ridiculous everytime you speak on economics. The only American who won't acknowledge this Administration's failed economic policies is Joe Biden. "Shrink-flation' is the least of our worries compared to rising rents and stagnant wages, but it is an undeniable indicator of how bad our inflation has gotten. I'm a single dad (with full custody) and a school teacher of 30 years. News-swilling and conspiracy-a-paloozas aside, I have been closely monitoring my finances since refinancing my house in August 2021. At that point, I was debt-free and only had the house payment to manage. Around November 2021, I noticed prices skyrocketing. By spring 2022, I had credit card balances again. By summer 2022, I ook out a personal loan to cover those cc balances...... I was getting crushed. I don't take trips. All my vehicles are 1990s models and paid off. I havent bought clothes for myself in three years. From 2021 to today, my homeowners insurance has doubled. Auto insurance has nearly tripled. Property taxes have increased with the state inflating property values, my $150/week grocery basket (in 2020) now costs $250.....and to add insult to injury, my 6% increase in salary was met with a 6% increase in income taxes. My family has been crushed since 2021. No politics. Just facts.

Once we changed, repented, and refocused everything changed for us, and for the better. We would have never thought we would be on this side of the fence with grandchildren and having everything paid off. It starts with the Almighty 1st, then Family, and then country, but you have to love, and really care about people. Today, there's an obvious fight between good, and evil. Happy to hear you guys are doing better than ever. There is a very thick line between having enough to cover expenses and not having enough to eat.. Then there's the level where you have enough to live comfortably but you;ve had to cut back on the second holiday each year and perhaps the second car gets replaced every 3 years instead of 2. You're somewhat depressed that you may have to take both kids out of boarding school and send them to a private day school instead. The psychological shift that occurs when you realize that you've given up luxuries such as meat, ice cream & candies for the kids, your annual holiday abroad, is massive. You realize that every penny you spend sends you and your loved ones deeper and deeper into debt. You literally cannot move or exist without going down that slope where every second you are sliding, sliding, with no way of stopping. You become immobilized with fear in case you make things even worse and of course the immobilization is the worst thing of all. Your remaining self-confidence vanishes as you feel the faith your loved ones have in you vanish.. Of course, if all is going even reasonably well and with a bit of financial adjustment, cashing in a few bonds to get through the "tough" times, the psycological effects are completely different and, dare I say it, if you haven't experienced that desperation it isn't something that can easily be imagined.

Patrick thanks for your channel. During C0vId I lost my job at a retirement community, while working as a caregiver/activities person. It was due to reporting them to the state I live in (of course they will not say that), that I was fired. I reported them for mistreatment and neglect of the residents. I spoke to my landlord, but then I was evicted by him. Here's the crazy part...I was paying my rent, and he even sent it back to me. The courts still allowed him to evict me. I could mot find a job orplace to stay, I livedin my care and at hotels which killed my tiny retirement. Not only that I never got any of the money the gov gave out. An ansolute nightmare!!!!

In Tulsa Oklahoma, 4 or 5 years ago, you would occasionally see homeless beggars downtown. Now you see homeless and beggars on every street corner, and tents pitched behind all kinds of business. Tulsa has a great storm sewer system with large tunnels under all the streets. The tunnels are unfortunately now filled with homeless people. It is so sad, i never thought that i would see America like this. 😢

Exactly, no help for working and honest, tired people. But illegal fraudulent immigrants that lie about their sexuality and women's right abuse etc just to get sympathy, asylum and a greencard get the red carpet, not Americans. I used to be for helping immigrants and those who are in need, but never at the expense of one's own citizens. Other countries should take care of their citizens and they know it. It's not America's job to care for other citizens when they willfully enter USA and plan to over stay their visa. Other countries don't card about Americans. Their laws only favor their own citizens. We are the only nation that 'cares' for everyone else with 5 star hotels but leaves our own military and American families starving and homeless. We need to change the birth right law as well that people can't just come here, have a baby, and become American and abuse the law. If a country doesnt reciprocate the same law for Americans abroad, then they shouldnt be granted the same. These people don't contribute to society, get their citizenship and go back to their own native country all while being able to collect public benefits while being dual citizens. Those people are very very rich. I've met them.

We have a financialized economy, which creates a rentier class who feed off the productive members of society. Registered nurse here of 30 years, I make decent money since I work in a union shop on the West Coast. My RN peers on the East Coast or Mid West with the same level of experience and skills are making an insanely low rate of hourly pay. Travel nurses are making very good money, but those gigs are getting harder to come by because most healthcare organizations are hemorrhaging money. Middle-management non-clinical staff has ballooned to a level I’ve never seen in 30 years. C Suite executives are getting paid massive amounts of money every year. This doesn’t end well for society as a whole. You can’t live in a society where 90% of the population is disenfranchised and expect to have any sort of cohesion peace or harmony. Look at the wealthy in Venezuela. Do you think they feel safe ? Armored cars, private security, double gated homes. Recently, a coworker of mine who used to live in Texas had two of her friends who still live there, labor and delivery nurses killed while working, shot to death. I’m not a socialist. I do believe people should have to work hard for what they have but I think many people are working hard in this society, and that no longer works for them sadly due to the Inflation, which is a result this financialized economy in place of a real productive economy.

He wrote and rewrote entire systems for companies like General Motors and Goodyear Tire over the last 30 years. Plus a 160 IQ. Not your run of the mill IT guy. He’s made $135 per hour as Project Manager but headhunting companies billed him out at $215 an hour. And you realize the job is not forever. So, companies were willing to pay for his expertise. Thank God that we live FAR, FAR below our means. We buy nothing on credit and only purchase 3-6 year old Toyotas. We live in a previously bank-owned foreclosure on a golf course. And have zero debt except for our first mortgage which will be paid off very soon in under 10 years. And we recently sold 3 rental properties that he lived in as he was purchasing them over the last 20 years since his divorce. We’ll be fine but I worry about my grown children who have yet to buy their first homes. Times are getting tough for everyone with this economy. Somehow, everyone needs to learn to live off of less.

All true. The problem is that when they are paying $200+ per hour for you to implement an SAP system which covers all aspects of a company, HR, Fin & Acct, Production, Materials mngmt, shipping & receiving, sales, literally the overarching program that CEOs look at across hundreds if not thousands of locations internationally, they are not paying you to learn new skills. More than 10 years ago, he preformed maintenance on a manufacturing company’s system (more on than off), over a twelve year period. He learned new applications there that were specific to that company. But there are thousands of applications so finding an implementation gig where you have the exact qualifications is almost impossible. Fortunately, he purchased several properties that he converted to rentals over the past 20 years. He’s now spending much more time on his personal investment accounts so things will work out fine. 😊 What God does not intend does not happen. 🙏🏼

In 1976, when I was 13 years old, I had a wide awake, real, in full color VISION of the Lord's Return... We lived out in the country in the middle of dusty plowed fields, dirt roads and woods in south Georgia. Everything looked kind of brown and crispy, like it needed rain bad. The corn field across the road in front of the house was starting to turn brown and die. I went to my bedroom, which faced out the front side of the house and looked out onto our front yard, which had a semi-circular dirt driveway and beside the left entrance was an old dogwood tree which had to be at least a hundred years old. Highway 341 ran from east to west in front of our house, which faced north, and the cornfield I spoke of earlier was on the other side of the highway. There was a slight rise in the middle of this field and you could not see the trees on the other side, so it looked like an ocean of corn that went off into the horizon. As I lay across my bed looking out the window, contemplating what I saw before me, I began to hear music in the distance. I specifically heard it in my right ear and the direction from which it came made me think of the high school band which practiced several miles southeast from where I lived. When conditions were right we could hear the band playing, but usually only heard the faint beat of drums. This sounded like trumpets and as I was thinking this to myself, I began to notice the music getting louder and louder, coming closer and closer, very quickly. Within a few seconds the sound wasn't just something that was exterior, but it was inside my head as well, reverberating throughout my entire body. It was so loud and it sounded like lightning crashed directly over my head and, in that split second, the trumpet sound thundered throughout my body and throughout the entire world...everything went dark and my bed and the earth shook violently. In a flash, I was no longer lying on my bed, but I was standing outside my bedroom window in the front yard and I beheld the scene in front of me with tremendous awe. It was still my front yard, only now everything was different. It seemed as if my entire range of vision was a huge 3D movie screen and I was in the middle of it. The trumpets continued to sound and I saw that the blue, sunny sky had turned black and the clouds churned and the wind blew with a violence that I had never experienced. The corn field was now a sea of wheat that was golden brown and ripe for harvest and I could see every stalk of wheat individually, billions of them. And I watched as the wind thrashed the wheat until it was beaten down by the storm. I now know that the Bible speaks several times about, in the end time, when the wheat is ripe for harvest, how the wheat will be separated from the tares. The tares are gathered and bundled together for burning and the wheat is gathered into the barn. Then I noticed the dogwood tree. It was mid-July, so of course I know there should not have been any blossoms on it, they usually bloom around Easter...but the tree was in full bloom. I had never seen anything like this. You couldn't see any leaves on the tree because of the millions of dogwood blossoms. It looked as if it were lit from within, by a glowing whitest of white, neon light and it glowed gloriously against the darkened sky. Now, I know the Bible says no man knows the day nor hour that Jesus will return, but if we watch for the signs, we can know the season. I have always felt that He might come back in the spring when the dogwood tree is in bloom. Of all the things that could have been highlighted in a vision; why the dogwood tree? I believe there is a specific message here. (Update: recently, I prayed about this and I feel the Lord placed into my spirit that this represents the fullness of the gentiles coming in). Just as I was taking all of this in, lightning filled the sky and the trumpets thundered over head again and in an instant there appeared two angels. They were dressed in white robes, facing each other up in the air and blowing golden trumpets. They were huge and filled the sky in front of me and I knew that the entire world must be seeing this as well. When I say huge, I mean like the size of the highest mountains, literally. I didn't think the trumpets could get any louder, but they grew louder still, building to a great crescendo and I heard a great shout that was louder than anything that you could imagine. And with that shout, it's as if the earth fell silent, the black, violent clouds began to roll back onto themselves from the center of the northeastern sky and I saw light in the distance. It was more a combination of light and clearing of the clouds in the distance that got my attention. As I looked up at this shaft of light and clearing sky, I saw what seemed to be fluttering and movement in the distance. As it came into view, I saw Jesus on a white horse and behind him were millions of angels and saints on white horses. It was at this moment, when I realized what I was seeing, that it disappeared and I was back in my room lying on my bed. Everything was back to normal and I was again looking out at a bright, sunny day.
