I had a Bosnian Muslim immigrant plumber come to my house in Chicago a few times and got into a conversation with him about the war with the Serbians. He said he once asked a Serbian bar tender why her people hated his people so much and she started talking about a battle 400 years ago where the Bosnians betrayed the Serbs to the Turks who then defeated them. The past is never past. Chicago recently elected Brandon Johnson as the new mayor. Much further Woke left than the old mayor, Lightfoot. He says his goal is “Equity” aka Equal Outcomes. There’s a video clip of him from 2018 talking about what he did as a public school teacher which was pretty much nothing. He says he never gave any test prep, rarely any homework and never failed anyone. So what did his students learn? Probably just a lot of Woke ideology about oppression. Like the States Attorney Kim Foxx, he blames black wilding, crime and carjacking on white racism rather than black behavior. The past is never past. Hard to see how Chicago can ever again be a functional city.

I think if all Muslims lived in Muslim countries, Christian in Christian, Hindu in Hindu etc. then fine, but I think it’s ridiculous to suggest that the critique of Islam when immigrating to western nations and not allowing criticism of the faith to be tolerated or at least liberalise the view that there should be punishment for it. I don’t think the Quran should change, I do think that a portion of the Muslim community have also been radicalised by hating the west. I also think the idea of not being able to touch someone of the opposite sex that isn’t your brother/sister or husband or wife is detrimental to becoming integrated in the west. I see many issues arise when female teachers give a male student a handshake and the student refuses or a female student not allowing a man to touch her is a little extreme. I understand the roots of the reason but that’s what I’m my opinion should at the very least change in some way. It’s not that I believe these are dirty teachings or bad principles, it’s that the western world is so different and sees it as a threat against them and hinders cohesion

Maajid’s claims about the name Allah being the same as the word for god in Aramaic is false and a common trope when doing dawah in the west. The Semitic common translation from Aramaic to Arabic for the word god is alaha (Aramaic) and ilah (Arabic). Both are general terms for deity. Not only that, but the name Allah is treated as a proper name in Arabic grammar. It is clearly a specific deity that is only named Allah. It’s so blatant that’s it’s written right into the Shahada: “the (only) god (ilah) is Allah”. As someone who claims to have studied Arabic and Islam extensively it strains credulity that Maajid wouldn’t know that he is speaking falsehoods. Typically when giving dawah this deception is tied to claims of common “Abrahamic roots” and is employed to make the name Allah seem more familiar and less “alien”. It is calculated. His reduction of Jihad to simply a “struggle” is even more egregious and dishonest. Quran, Ahadith and Sira are very clear that Jihad is offensive fighting to establish Islam as the only religion and Shariah as the only law and way of life on all the earth.

He is attempting to extricate the meaning that includes physical fighting from the word (just intellectualizing and spiritualizing the word Jihad, which is dishonest). It also means physical fighting. Here’s just one of many many examples from the Quran: At-Tawbah 9:111 “Indeed, Allah has purchased from the believers their lives and their properties [in exchange] for that they will have Paradise. They fight in the cause of Allah, so they kill and are killed. [It is] a true promise [binding] upon Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur'an.” “They fight” is the root j-h-d, jihad. It’s very unambiguously about killing others and being killed.
