Thanks by the way. I've only worked on older bikes so was a little unsure if I wanted to try this myself. Seems pretty straightforward actually. So much better than rocker arms!!

If it is so much better why are speed triples only 10kmile serivce and Yamaha is 24k miles?

@@dougiequick1 Because....uhhhhhh 8 years ago (jfc) when I made this comment the handful of bikes I'd worked on (which I'd mentioned were older) with rocker arms were less simple than the valve adjustment I'd done on this bike. And yeah, I'd still happily do adjustments twice as often if I found them easy to do, but I am not asserting that's the case with any modern Yamaha because I have not worked on one. Satisfactory answer or do I need to make some performative gesture of brand loyalty?

Rainer darf ich etwas fragen bitte ? ich hab im Triumph Forum gelesen das die Armaturen meiner speedy oder besser der meisten 1050 Baujahr 2007 nicht 100 % wasserfest sind beziehungsweise nach einer Regenfahrt schaden nehmen könnten sprich elektronik in der Armatur ? ist da was dran und was kann ich im Vorfeld machen damit das nicht passiert !! bin neuer speedy besitzer und keine Erfahrung! danke im Voraus für deine Antwort! gruss Gerhard

Hallo, nein da wird nichts blockiert. Ich zeige nur mit einer Reißnadel auf die Pfeile der Nockenwellenräder. Die müssen zueinander zeigen.

Hi, this is great stuff! I was going to do 12k service for my Street triple soon. But in the manual can't find a diagram that instructs when to measure valves (in terms of TDC). Do you always measure clearance when the valve is pointing up?

When the cam lobe is pointing up yes. Did you ever do it? :-)

at 7:30 on the video, it seems you put the inlet ("IN") cam shaft instead of the exhasut ("EX") cam shaft !

In fact both camshaft sprockets are stamped EX and IN.The inlet camshaft has a groove machined into it near the centre.This is described in the manual as the only identification mark.

you check valve gap for outter valves but not for the middle two , why?

Hallo,ich habe eine 2006 515nj und habe Probleme mit Zündausetzern. Letzes Jahr kamen neue Zündkerzen rein dann lief sie bis jetzt gut aber am Wochenende eine lange Tour gemacht und ich hatte die zündaussetzer wieder. Was kann das sein? Wieder neue Kerzen rein? Das kann’s doch auf Dauer nicht sein. Kannst du mir bitte weiterhelfen. Gruß Ronny

Sorry, aber das kann man aus der Ferne nicht beantworten. Das kann eine Zündspule sein, Kabelbruch etc.

the older triple was shim over bucket...you could do the job without taking the cams out....this is better though

Hey, my reed valve cover just burned true. I lost a screw while I was driving. Should I open the cam cover to see what happened there? And if I do, should I replace the cam cover seal? Thanks in advance.

Old comment but for anyone else's reference they rarely need adjusting at 12k miles. Based on forums i searched and mine and a friends Speed Triple experience(2009 models). Triumph charge £400-500 to check them, if they need adjusting its another hours labour aka £100.

Ohje Ohje ... Ventile werden zum prüfen nie nach oben gedreht. Du hast dadurch ein falsches Ventilspiel. Nockenwellen aus oder einbau empfehle ich auf überschneidung zu machen (der druck auf dem Nockenwellenbock ist dadurch viel geringer und die Gefahr das die STeuerkette überspringt ist geringer.
