Paedmonn don’t got it but I know a lot about vr I have had a few headsets I don’t think it is very complicated to set up all you need to do is download steam on a gaming pc hook everything up and u can start with free games also it’s not very also you need more places to set 2 basestations(minitrackingcameras) also the reason it is so good is because the high refresh rate I thing it’s more than double the rift s and the field of view is also way bigger and the controllers are very good they track your fingers and how much pressure you press on each finger

I can confirm that the drifting does occur in the new controller overtime as well. albeit much less prominent that a 10%-20% dead-zone will completely nullify it. And in my case so far the drifting doesn't get worse after that. Where the old controller the drift will continue to worsen in that even after setting maximum dead-zone you'll still be sliding around.

One of the best cases you can have for VR is a Thermaltake P series case, it has an open air design, but for VR headsets, there are Solid Steel pillar mounts that hold the Tinted Tempered Glass Plate to the chassis, What you do is use 2 velcro straps and if you have it upright or in horizonal use 2 pillars to secure the wiring with slack on the back end of the PC(You can drape it underneath over the top or on a side, If you combine it with a pully you can have some of it retract as well, all in all fully loaded it should be around 35-50lbs of hardware to anchor 2), Otherwise on a regular case on the back there are ventilation holes take a couple zip ties and create anchor points for the Velcro if your PC has Feet that are thick enough run your wire under the PC. Another alternative is getting something from Ikea like Mick or Alex file cabinet(also nice for storing the headset) and adding the secure mount channeling.

@stevetb77774 жыл бұрын
@@yomama91927e Well, I have confidence that they worked out the kinks. They had help from Valve this time, too. MRTV Sebastian was raving about the Reverb G2 in his preview, that carries a lot of weight with me. There may be some quality issues, but it's not like the Index and controllers didn't have their flaws either. I actually had to RMA my Index HMD. I think HP got it right this time, overall. At this point in the game I think I will quite possibly be updating my VR gear annually.
@AlehandroSosa4 жыл бұрын

@sirscorpio82204 жыл бұрын
The only really good thing about the G2 as far as I know (compared to the Index) is the resolution. Now it would be great for immersion, especially for the price. Seeing text and some other things may even make you cry it’s so good. But I’ve become accustomed to the 120-144 hz on the Index and now I can’t go back. In fact, I could never use VR for more than an hour before I got my Index (I was on Rift CV1) now though, I can last up to 3 hours until it’s just the pressure on my head that gets to me because I prefer to wear my HMD’s very tight. The controllers on the G2 look like they will be a step up from before, but still not the best. And I haven’t even gotten to one of the biggest things yet! There’s a rumor that to get consistent frames at the Max resolution, you’ll need at least a 2080. I know that’s not what it says on the website but a few people have speculated that what they recommended won’t even be able to keep consistent frames. Now, I know I’ve left out a lot of things that this headset has as a plus, one of them being the inside out tracking, but personally, I can’t stand inside out tracking. I have tried multiple rift s headsets and I must say I was not impressed. I think inside out tracking is the future, but I don’t think we are there yet. And again, given the track record of HP (I know they’re working with Valve but Valve didn’t design everything) I don’t think I can trust their inside out tracking will be better

Ironically enough my index came the same day my pulleys. I wasn't about to deal with cables for my first VR experience and I have to say, I don't know how people live without pulleys. I still haven't taken off the plastic on the frunk and I keep hitting my frunk with my controllers so I just zip tied my microfiber cloth to the cable which is another thrillseeker idea. Can you recommend or have tried any of the screen protector type products on your lenses? I am trying to find a cheaper option to the plano lens covers.

Im planning to use the index or the reverb g2 prolonged simulator sessions, also by people not used to vr or gaming. So consistent fps is important i think. From that perspective, what do you guys recommend i choose? I thought the index, since it has higher fov and balance on the head? On the other hand, the reduced screendoor and increased res (have beefy pc) would advocate the g2 maybe..? For this sim i will not be using controllers so controler tracking is not a variable i take into account.
@Gamingwithmatteo3114 жыл бұрын
For sims and sims alone I would recommend the g2. Comfort is very similar to the index.
@Flightcoach4 жыл бұрын
@@Gamingwithmatteo311 thanks! And what about the fov being lower than on the index, would that not be a disadvantage maybe increasing motion sickness (because the image is more narrow?)

@@Flightcoach won't impact motion sickness, there is a mod you can do to increase the fov. Some people notice the fov more than others so its hard for me to say

That makes me wonder, do they change the device based on the problems that occur? So the Indexes made a year ago are different than the ones made recently? I guess it would make sense money-wise, since replacing devices probably can rack up big costs with issues that are common.

I finally saved enough after months of doing so and I’ve made the first step of placing my order for an Index. I placed it last week, and within a few days I went from “ships in 8 or more weeks” down to 4, and just today I’ve moved down to three. I’m kinda shocked it’s moving along so quickly, and kind of in disbelief too. Anyone have recent purchasing experience? I’m curious as to how long it could actually take for me to get the purchase confirmation prompt.

If you have a high end gaming system to pair with the index, its worth the wait. You would have to wait just as long for the reverb g2 as its not out yet

Wait so the static (green, red, blue pixels), audio cutting out is a problem with the cable? So I should get it replaced? Because I thought that was from my display port to mini display port adapter
@Gamingwithmatteo3114 жыл бұрын
It can still be caused by your adapter. Anything that degrades the signal can cause static, audio drop outs or other artifacts. So adapters don't have enough bandwidth. Set your index to 80 hz and see if it improves

My biggest issue is comfort while wearing glasses. The HMD pushes my glasses down onto the bridge of my nose and after about an hour it gets too painful and I need to take a break for a few mins. This has been an issue with every headset I've used though and its actually not as bad in the Index as with some others. I've considered getting the custom prescription inserts but they're nearly $100 and you can't use them in any other headset... The only other issue is how frustrating it is that so many VR games are Oculus exclusives...it's really anti-consumerist and greedy IMO...
