To everyone complaining about the race change and crying about the differences from the book: it's a retelling and he is doing great. The thing I don't think people realize is if you watch the commentary after the episode, they tell you Anne Rice was an executive producer on this series and contributed to the changes prior to her death and the series release. Her son is still serving as a producer. She herself has changed her own source material in her books. Initially stating vampires came from Akasa, an Egyptian, then changed it in one of her most recent books saying vampires came from aliens. So I don't understand why everyone is so worked up over this version of Louis. Furthermore, minus the race and era swap, the series is closest to the books opposed to the movie and I don't hear people complaining how the movie didn't follow the books. This interpretation of Louis completely works for this version of the story. If you don't like it because of the story or his acting, fine, but it's stupid and unfair to write his version off solely because of his race.

They’re so worked up because they’re racists - it’s about race. They don’t want a black person as Louis, period. Half of them haven’t even read the books, I bet.

I read the 1st book years ago & was skeptical about them changing the story. But I must say after watching the 1st episode as well as the behind the scenes special, I am very impressed 👏 I think they did a great job. Jacob's acting is superb! So is the young man that plays his brother. Give it a chance, if you don't like it, don't watch. No need to trash talk it if you've never even seen the 1st episode.

Jacob Anderson is so underrated. We should be talking about him as much as we talk about Joseph Quinn or Nicholas Hoult. Hopefully the UK doesn't lose him to the States forever - we have a habit of not being able to hold on to talented actors, specifically actors who are PoC. I just re-read the book for the sixth time (lol) ahead of starting watching, and I have to say I think the changes are really cool and I am absolutely in love with Jacob Anderson's interpretation of Louis. Sam Reid as Lestat is perfection as well. I hope people watch and love this series! I'm looking forward to seeing how this season ends and I'm all in for season 2!

I cant believe some reactions. Why are people so close minded? If they did this story on 100 remakes and they werent exact clones of the books you would be pissed? Do you like copy and paste?? Whyyy. Why are you like this.. I seriously dont get you. If it is because of "betrayal" of the source, im telling you, everything is a reimagination of an old source. Merlin, gandalf, dumbledore. Arthur, frodo, harry potter. The devil, dracula, sauron, and as I see it, bloody Lestat. And lets not forget the "betrayal" of Disney against grimm's stories. Read the original ones, they are more violent than Interview with the vampire

I like Brad Pitt as an actor now but back in the early 1990s he wasn’t a very good Louis. Tom Cruise was alright but nothing like the book Lestat. This retelling despite fundamental changes from the original book in many ways is closer to the original book’s intention. The acting is fantastic and the production value is top notch. They have knocked it out of the court with this series.

AMC's Interview With the Vampire is Brilliant. And for all those "Rice" purist who are bitching about the major changes from the book to the AMC version. People forget that ANNE herself and Christopher her son spent many times.. updating and making Interview fresh for 21st century audiences compared to the book of the 1970s. Storyville 1910 is one of the most rich periods in New Orleans' history and a perfect setting for Louis and now inter-racial relationship with Louis (Jaco Anderson) who is just brilliant and brings such a freshness and understanding to the role. It is refreshing for me (as I am an acting coach/artist developer) to hear the actors do correct New Orlean's dialect and French (Tom Cruise/Brad.. were completely flat for me). And Jacob and Sam understand the deep complexities of the union of Lestat and Louis. I am so excited for Season 2 and resetting the Theatre des Vampyrs during the WWII and Nazi evils. German Expressionism and the Cabarets of that time offer great new ways of interpreting . Should be masterful. AMC has done just a mesmerizing job with historical accuracy, costumes, music. As a concert pianist myself .. I love the addition of the stride piano in Storyville, Jerry Roll Morton and Lestat striding to Bach's Minuet in G. I laughed my ass off with the scene with the Tenor butchering the Donizetti Don Pasquale coloratura. I was like.. OMG please kill him now. (Thanks Lestat). It will be interesting to see in VAMPIRE LESTAT what period they set the Rock star scenes. I hope they stick to Rice's original intent of 1980s New Ro Goth. With Lestat's vanity, posh fashion, etc.. I see him in the period of Xymox, The Cure, and Siouxsie. Over the mediocre Queen of the Damn movie that also left me flat. AMC is so fresh. I have my own digital copy of AMC Interview and visit it often. And note to Lestat: Leave Louis and Marry me. Why? I'm a concert pianist, and harpsichordist so we can duet on Debussy's Six Epigraphes (The duet Claudia/Lestat were playing).. and I can serenade with F. Couperin Ordres and and sing Mozart in perfect lyric baritone. AKA I'm much more sophisticated and would be a better companion for Lestat LOL. (I'm all about the blonde. .. Sam is so yum) LOL Anyway to the hard core Anne Rice fans that are a bit racist and opinionated about the changes... give this version a change. It is fresh and innovative. I love resetting the interview in Dubai during the pandemic. The opening Dubai futuristic metropolis sets and Louis's penthouse was so intriguing. Though I expected the AMC to give us a red headed Armand like the book.. I'm not yet sold on the casting of him yet. Bass is great as Claudia, and brings a freshness to the role. I wish we didn't have to wait till 2024 for Season 2. OMG... that long? Yuck. But love watching Jacob talked about his role. Fabulous. The soft shoe scene .. was so great too. Masterful.

I dont care about the race of a character. I care about a story being told the way it written! I have read the books multiple times. Louis is a French speaking, plantation owning aristocrat type in the books. there is a LOT of story telling around the plantation in the book. In the book "Interview With the Vampire" by Anne Rice there are facts as to how the story is written. the AMC version is a bastardization. when you completely change a story it's no longer the same story. this shouldnt be called interview with the vampire. it should be called something else. it's a completely different story
