I believe they would shoot the shot with no one in it, and then without moving the cameras shoot the scenes with actors (keeping in mind he’s a ghost so barely any physical overlays) and then just make him on a new layer that has spooky fx, and erase him from the layer that the other actors are on using the first ‘blank’ layer as the background. Basically what you were suggesting. I think a computer could make a decent background fill through AI or a similar tool, but for a 4k tv show I think you need to do it proper. Also I like your show, thank you.
