You know of all Elejah's scenes one of my favorite one is when he leaves her the letter and they're both looking at the window and another one of my favorite is when Elena returns to talk to Elijah at the Lockwood mansion and she removes the jacket and he's eyes sparkles. Ahhh but yes I've noticed. I think all the Katerina speech (American Gothic) is all a facade for who he really wants e.g. Elena.

Yup. Elena died after Elijah & Klaus. In TO it’s suggested that Klaus knows The Cure is in Damon (I totally blame Care for that; she’s the only one who truly confides in him), and in Legacies it’s hinted that Rebekah is prepared to kill Damon by removing The Cure from him to save Hope from herself.
