This pmv is utterly fantastic. All the shots are so goddamn pretty and creative, one of my favorites being Jay, Lion, and Dove with Holly’s shadow next to her. ITS SO SMART. Not to mention you can really feel the contrast here of HollyCinder’s love for each other and the life they could’ve led together and the path Hollyleaf chose instead. Song choice is perfection too. IM SO LATE BUT THIS IS SO GOOD UAWHEAWRGRHJEWGJHERGHGHH idk if this makes sense but i feel like theres been a shift in wlw warriors content in recent years where instead of just like cute scenes of them cuddling (WHICH IS GOOD TOO DONT GET ME WRONG) we're seeing way more stuff that explores the characters' depth and stories and the turbulence in those relationships and this is a GREAT example of that. though also that might just be my personal experience lol but ANYWAYS i love it so much!!!!!!! i love this song so i was super happy to see this pop up on my feed and also your art rocks :D

some symbolism I picked up on (english isn't my first language sorry): - 0:30 - when we see Cinderheart little sprouts look upwards, her love for Hollyleaf is blooming; but when we see Hollyleaf, they look downwards - Hollyleaf in Dovewing's shadow - crow's feathers and leaves (0:13, 1:04) hint to Leafpool and Crowfeather - 1:04 in the background two stars (lionblaze, jayfeather) and one small (dovewing), then also forth one falling (hollyleaf) I might be wrong about some

analyzing n interpreting this bc i cannot let this go for the LIFE of me: 0:07 okay so this makes me think that they're alone. in some secret place where it's just them and nobody else is watching. we're looking down at these two from the perspective of the stars: cinderheart is looking straight at us, while hollyleaf's gaze is downcast (cinderheart had inherited the spirit of cinderpelt when she was born, making her blessed from the start without her knowledge; while hollyleaf had gotten nothing except for empty promises during her early apprenticeship) its my personal hc that hollyleaf is really chatty about her ambitions when its just the two of them -- but shes quiet, and cinder is worried about her. of course, ashfur had just died, but she still wanted to know. she had expected lionblaze to be more upset because ashfur was his mentor but holly seems to be taking it the hardest. 0:10 "the milk has just expired" makes me think of "aged like milk". ashfurs N.I.C.E incel obsession with squirrelflight aged like milk, which is what ultimately led to his death. i also see four stars in the background: two stand strong (lionblaze n jayfeather), one is dwindling (hollyleaf), and theres a few twinkles of another one in the sky (dovewing) idk much abt stars so thats cat. 0:11 "all the leaves are dead" RAHHHH okay so i !!! THINK !!! leafpool is the one walking away from the leaves (her) and the crow feather (crowfeather), basically leaving them (their past selves, who they used to be when they were young and dumb) behind. !!!!! OR !!!!! the two leaves represent jayfeather and lionblaze, while hollyleaf is the crow feather (i originally thought that crowfeathers eyes were green so i was gonna pull a "you got the same eyes as your father / and you got the same kinda temper too" but that failed so plan B). she's leaving them behind for squirrelflight to take care of ("i'll leave the rest to you"... god i have heard that too many times in anime. jjk and bllk when i catch u both.) 0:14 cinderheart asks whats wrong, but hollyleaf doesn't respond. this only makes cinder more worried. i would NOT be surprised if holly had PTSD from the fire, so this could be the "freeze" trauma response? hollyleaf knows whats wrong [with her, she deems] but doesn't want to talk about it, because talking about it would be acknowledging that shes "impure" 0:18 that's cinderheart as a kit. i originally thought it was hollyleaf because whenever i see ANYTHING i think of hollyleaf but the tail end is rounded like cinders is. whoevers walking away from her... hm... i'll let it marinate. i let it marinate but i think the cat walking away from her is... IDK!!! IM CONFUZZLED!!! IM SORRY!!! 0:22 "i see you as you see yourself, through all the books you read" when hollyleaf looked at her reflection, she saw a cat that was blessed by the gods and anointed to speak with their voice. while she still holds some sense of "humility", she is ultimately self-righteous. (using past tense now) she busted lionblaze for sneaking off with heathertail but when SHE went to riverclan camp and had a sleepover with her girl cru-- i mean, willowshine, (hehe :3), it was okay. as a MASSIVE hollyleaf kinnie, what separated her from them was the intention behind it. she had gone to riverclan camp to help, while lionblaze went to heathertail simply to indulge in his own desires. selfless vs selfish. it also doesn't help that hollyleaf is a descendant of firestar, and i vividly remember (in the 1st book) jayfeather (when they were all kits) telling her that firestar broke the warrior code if he thought it would be for the good of the clan(s) when he was trying to convince hollyleaf to sneak out of camp to find/fight the fox cubs that were loose. she remembered this and used it to her advantage (god she's SO smart and cunning and resourceful she's such a girlboss omg omg omg) 0:26 "overwhelmed with guilt and realizing the disease" the star on her forehead lifted, and is practically on squirrelflights and leafpools foreheads. having her purity ripped away from her and given to the cats who were ultimately to blame (in her opinion) for having it stolen from her in the first place. the "disease" could be her mixed blood. while in wildly different circumstances, i know how it feels to feel "sick" or "dirty" over something out of your control and it wouldn't be far-fetched to assume that hollyleaf felt the same thing too. 0:30 "you gave me chills" cinderheart is gazing at hollyleaf so adoringly and with such reverence it makes me SICK and HOMOPHOBIC. she's not particularly doing anything: just standing there and... and waiting, as her love blossoms (shown by the hearts in the corner.) she genuinely looks so happy to be around her and just WAIT. gives me fell first (holly) & fell harder (cinder) trope 0:31 "i've had it with the drills" she's not even doing anything. just... staring. her expression is unreadable to me. in the midst of her turmoil, her love for cinderheart is dying. not because she doesn't love her -- she does -- but hollyleaf believes that cinderheart doesn't deserve her because she isn't good enough. she centered her life around a prophecy that was never meant for her. "how can you love me when i don't even love myself?" OR "how can you love the person i am when i don't even know who i am?" 0:33 ohhh this one has me in a twist so i'll just take a shot in the dark here. hollyleaf looks like she's attempting to use persuasion on cinderheart (esp with the paw on her heart?? like girlllll) -- something she could've learned from sol, hence the solar eclipse above her. sticking to canon as much as possible so this could be hollyleaf trying to reassure cinderheart that everything is. a-okay! cinderheart has her paw ready to reach out, as if trying to take hollyleaf's own, but the spirit of cinderpelt looms over her. hollyleaf disobeyed the warrior code and ultimately disobeyed starclan. she can't take her paw. not to get religiousy or anything BUT☝their roles have reversed. cinderheart is now the blessed one (she always has been, she just didnt know for a long time) while hollyleaf is now the fallen one -- fallen from false promise -- just... ordinary. i also noticed that cinderheart's head is tilted slightly, as if beckoning hollyleaf to tell her whats wrong. her wobbly lips makes it seem like she's about to cry: she doesn't know what has happened to hollyleaf. she just wants her best friend back. the hollyleaf *she* knew would never lie to her, never. the stars in the last panel (getting religiousy again SOMEONE STOP ME) makes me think that starclan is still watching them (yk how people say god is always watching? yeah that) and that they now have "expectations". a reference to once more to see you by mitski?? what EVER are you talking about... hah... ahaha... 0:36 hollyleaf being left all alone, but the river isn't tainted with red [yet, & to her at least]. going back to the "freeze" trauma response thing: she feels alone in what she's experienced and is experiencing, and even though her brothers are there, they aren't THERE. could possibly harbor resentment towards them despite being cursed with the same knowledge they have for their seemingly devil-may-cry demeanors??? 0:40 hollyleaf is determined and now has a one-track mind. even with ashfur dead, theres more she has to do [for whom, exactly?]. she mustn't cower. her thought process is heavily irrational and she doesn't even know WHY she's doing this, which is a complete 180 from her usual "two steps ahead' facade. 0:44 cinderheart is ascending [to grace] at the realization of her spirit. the water she appears to be in reminds me of when jayfeather helped cinderheart be strong again through swimming once she fell and broke her hind leg, like cinderpelt did. hollyleaf is descending. she's fallen from grace and out of the favor of starclan. the only thing that seems to accompany her are fiery pits (of hell), and no matter how warm, is still fire. both stuck in their own predicaments, they cant look at each other. 0:51 dovewing is stuck in hollyleafs shadow. this could cast doubt on others (and by others i mean starclan and jay and lion), because no matter what dovewing does, hollyleaf's paws are forever imprinted on the very path that was meant for her (dove). 0:55 natural phases of the moon, until the solar eclipse came. if i remember correctly sol posed the question "are you *sure* that you're one of the three?" or something along those lines to hollyleaf. 0:59 hollyleaf decides to forget about her troubles for a while and just enjoy her time with cinderheart.

1:02 for a fleeting moment, she forgets everything. she's laying on the ground with cinderheart and sure they were soaking wet but she was happy and -- oh god, she's dead. oh god, i killed her, didn't i? 1:06 tries to forget about it and curls up with cinderheart. but the only thing running through her mind was the sick idea of parting her jaws and doing exactly what she did to [REDACTED] 1:10 she reaches out to hold cinderheart's paw, but the thought of unsheathing her claws and digging until she hit bone was pulsating through her very blood, making her sick. 1:13 shocked and horrified at the unwilling surge of violent thoughts, hollyleaf thinks that she can't do this. she can't be with cinderheart anymore. she's can't hurt anyone she cares about. 1:15 she hoped to see cinderhearts face, but ended up seeing ashfur's; blocked out by her mind. oh, but the guilt is still there, isn't it? the blood is still there -- pumping out in heavy yet steady pumps from his sliced throat, caking her thick black fur. 1:17 running, because, what else could she do? what else could she do with her sins staring her right in the face? 1:21 and yet, cinderheart still looks at her. still holding her gaze lovingly -- not even looking twice at the blood that stained her muzzle. i also noticed that cinderheart's background is lighter, and smudges of that shade are behind hollyleaf. her love still remains (but it shouldn't -- to hollyleaf, someone as wonderful as cinderheart doesn't deserve her, of all cats she could've possibly chosen). 1:24 despite the blood on her face, cinderheart is still reaching out. red is a color used to get peoples attention, and there are now red sparkles around cinderpelt. the fact that she inherited the spirit of one of the most prominent and well-known medicine cats in history weighs heavily on her now, more than ever. 1:30 the river is now running with blood. hollyleaf has finally come to terms with what she has done. 1:34 despite the starclan spirit she holds (shown by her wide white pupils), she still feels sad. she knows she should feel some sort of gratitude, but all she can think about is hollyleaf. she doesn't care what she did: she just misses her so much. tears still line her eyes when something reminds cinderheart of her. 1:36 ashfurs obsessive incel self is swirling around cinderheart, as if trying to remind her that the very cat she loves is a murderer. her blessing could be seen as more of a curse, while hollyleaf's curse could be seen as more of a blessing. 1:43 ever since hollyleaf ran away from thunderclan and died, cinderheart has been coming here every day. every day, when patrols wrap up, she walks to the worn-in path and overlaps the scent from yesterday and the day before with a new one as she sits. all of her of her longs for hollyleaf's return, to inhale her earthy yet rejuvenating scent that reminded cinderheart of petrichor, despite it being impossible. ever since cinderheart first created that gave, hollyleaf has been coming here every day. every day, when she heard the cats in thunderclan settling down, she lays in hiding behind the safety of a rock marked with her scent, overridden by a fresh one every day. all of her longs to return to cinderheart, to inhale her warm yet damp scent that reminded hollyleaf of a well-used moss nest, despite it being impossible. they both long for a chance to make things right. to be with the other again.
