​​​ I remember reading a book with a similar idea: being half-dead, vampires don't produce blood cells anymore, but being half-alive, they still need them to transport oxygen to their cells, and so they steal them by drinking human blood. Edit: That make me think of sea slugs, some do it with algea. They can use chloroplasts (the cells used for photosynthesis) but they can't produce them, so they steal them from algea. Real life vegan vampires :D

@@quinmatthew1 Hmm, high concentrations of organic iron being a part of how tough they are... I'm picturing a vampire licking rebar, but maybe the iron does need to be processed into some organic form, I have an extremely vague sense of the chemistry there, but I think that's part of how organic chemistry works. Would vampires then also prefer other foods that are high in iron like spinach, shellfish, liver, legumes, and red meat? Blood would probably be the most readily available source, but this puts an interesting spin on the "vegetarian" vampire trope: them actually eating vegetables, it's just that spinach alone isn't enough to nourish vampires or humans. And speaking of iron supplements, would those be a sea change for vampires, even better than blood banks? Would love to hear if you have science thoughts.

Tip for buying sunscreen if you ever want to know if a sunscreen is good see if it’s available in Australia because the law is here to have sunscreen sold stricter than any other country because of a hole in the ozone layer right above Australia
