Step by step to this build would be cool, not sure what to pick first
@KingPhestezeo6 жыл бұрын
That's fair, I should have made it more clear what order to unlock the abilities in. The first skill to get should either be autophagy or shadow mist. If you are struggling with the game then go with autophagy to keep yourself alive. If the game isn't posing a problem then shadow mist will be what you want first. In the beginning of the game I found it to be useful when I had both shadow mist and bloodspear so when you are able you should get bloodspear to compliment shadow mist. Try to target enemies with low blood or shadow resistance with the appropriate ability to maximize damage done before the fight has a chance to start. If you are still having difficulties in fights then get coagulation before you get bloodspear to increase survivability further. Any of the passive skills are leveled as you need them or can get them, and whichever one you level should be something you need or will find helpful. I leveled up my blood gain from biting, stamina, and blood capacity before others but that was just my preference. I used a lot of blood based abilities so I got a lot of use out of those specific passives. Stamina is a big one to consider getting, though. Running out of stamina is an easy to way to get yourself injured in a fight so it can go a long way for you when you have a few levels in it. Bullets and medical syringes are up to you, I only leveled them because I could, not because I needed them. If you do use them, or need them, then you can decide when you want to level those. If the game is still giving you troubles then you can abuse the enemy pathing to get kills on a lot of the problem enemies. If you walk far enough away from an enemy they will just turn around and start going back to where they were standing. You can use this opportunity to walk up behind them and get a free knockdown and bite or a series of cheap shots to whittle their health down. The chaplins have a ranged attack with their cross so they can hit you sometimes when you run away, but that won't happen often, and the ranged enemies will often times just keep shooting at you, but this works without fail on just about everyone else. For the weapons I suggest a guide for any of the weapon locations of a weapon you know you want to use. The basic saw weapon is available in the hospital but I can't accurately recall where you get the truncheon or the scalpel from. Those are solid weapons for blood skill spamming so they will take you far if you play like that. You can level them up to level 2 or 3, the materials for those levels of main hand and off-hand weapons are quite common as you progress so you can keep yourself ahead of the curve until you maybe get a weapon you really want. Unfortunately I do not have any firearms suggestions, I didn't use any of the guns until I was incredibly far into the game. The pistol parabellum is acquired early enough for you to get use out of it so you can try that, but I can't say how it is without the damage upgrades. I only used it after upgrading it completely. In general I think you should level your abilities and passives as you can. Whichever ones you use the most or get the most value out of are your first priority. I kept up with shadow mist when I played so I always had that skill ready to go for any enemy or boss in the game. The ultimate is pretty expensive so you should plan ahead for that if you want to level it so you can save up enough, but the same goes for any of the higher levels of the abilities or passives. The price will ramp up noticeably after the first few levels for abilities, but passives take a lot longer to get there. Let me know if you want more information about anything. I don't remember all of the finer details of the game but I will still try and help as best I can.

I see I wrote my comment three years ago! Amazing how time flies. I do know exactly how to win without embaracing anyone and have now done it many times. For those who struggle to achieve this, allow me a few suggestions. If you can build up 'Chaos' to level three that will do and if you reach four it's plenty. Secondary power is not as important as Chaos whether it's claws, mist or the spear. I recommend 'Mist'. What matters is having an awesome two handed melee weapon with over 500 striking power. Early in the game you can find common handle parts in hideouts; especially the one near Tom's bar and the one you pass just before you fight the skal Bishop. and on the bodies of the big shutgun guys. The two handed melee in the sewers near the hospital is very good, which will be your main weapon in Pembroke, whitechapel and the docks. Upgrade it with six common handle parts immediately. Do it BEFORE you face the beast at the lower sewer level. You can enhance weapons without having to sleep. After you beat Fergal, you will find an even better two handed melee weapon in the 'Hideout' of the sewer skals. Immediately enhance it with six common handle parts. Common handle parts are everywhere. You shouldn't have to buy them. By this point you will have the Parabellum luger handgun, which you must upgrade relentlessly. Before you fight Mary in the graveyard, the Parabellum can be enhanced with common and then good firearm parts. You can buy them three at a time from Edwina Cox near Tom's pub. You buy threee, sleep in the hideout that's right next to her then wake up and buy three more. There's no rush to fight Mary, so visit as many merchants as you can to enhance the luger to full power. I only use it toward the end of the fight with Mary, and have health and blood serums ready in case it's a close fight. Be advised this gun does devastiating damage to ALL BOSSES. Before you explore the Westend, upgrade your main mellee weapon with good handle parts from Edwina, Milton and the merchant in Whitechapel. This is the key to every battle. That's why XP is nothing to worry about when trying to go wire to wire without embracing anyone. If that luger handgun is at full power and you have a devastating melee weapon, you can defeat any boss as long as you have a long life line, plenty of stamina, decently built up Chaos, and battle serums. Note: I do not spend much XP on biting powers. Don't go past level 4, or 600 XP to enhance. Your XP is needed to paralyze enemies, to heal yourself and build up Chaos. Also, build up the dagger you find in the Ascalon club. You should have plenty of money for good handle parts etc. Kill lots of skals since they drop important ingredients for healing and battle serums. Do all the side quests. There is plenty of XP around, especially in the Westend. Kill the Ekon that killed Emily, find the 4 Braille segments, and complete Jonathan's search for all his father's letters. These guests are worth big XP. Remember that guns and melee weapons may start out at an advanced level like two or three, but they can be upgraded from earlier levels in column two. I didn't notice this for a long time. The melee weapon you find in the Skal sewers can be enhanced to over 200 if properly done even without good handle parts. I could go on, but I think this advice is rock solid. Good luck !

To put it simple, the advantage of stunning one enemy for 10 seconds is that you can stun the leader mob while you wipe out the annoying two companions, then deal with the leader 1 on 1. The other solution is to go for AoE damage, or alternatively brute force the whole thing. All three works.

Shadow Mist DoT has a larger AoE and it does more, overall damage, since it deals 10 tick, 90 damage each(for a total of 900 shadow damage vs 820 instant), and it, also, returns you blood with each hit. However, it's downside is that it takes too long for all the damage to stack up, it's pretty much tick per second. As for Blood Spear, you're basically picking between a sniper rifle and a shotgun. The top row causes 650 damage over long distance, but the lower row splits the spear in three smaller spears, each dealing 600 damage, which is insane, for when bunch of mobs get into your face. The lower row or Blood Spear is insanely powerful, many people underestimate it, for no reason.
@travisadams62793 жыл бұрын
The lower blood spear ability is so short range and the way it splits is so weird, the enemies have to be perfectly separated to hit multiple ones. The top spear ability has much longer range, more damage, and as the video shows, you can easily line up enemies to hit multiple. It also has a deceptively larger hitbox than it appears.

@KingPhestezeo6 жыл бұрын
TL;DR: My personal experience with being really under leveled boiled down into me regaining my blood to hit enemies with a strong ability to chunk out health. Your weapon may do little damage but the abilities often do quite a bit more. Long version: I fought many enemies far above my level in the first half of the game. If you want the easiest way to beat enemies, regardless of builds, you can just abuse their aggro range. Enemies only walk so far from their default position before returning so you can just cheap shot them over and over until they die. If you walk up behind them you can use the knockdown and bite combo you learn in the tutorial until they die or you decide to do something else. Using the build I outline is a little slower but works without issue. Play conservatively, overextending yourself is the easiest way to be caught in a combo and die, and just keep your blood up for abilities and healing. Spam abilities the enemy is weak to, knock down their stamina to be one-hit from breaking for emergencies, and continue to chip away at them. Being under leveled isn't often an issue in the game, it just means combat encounters take longer.

yes, shadow mist is the least resisted and highest damage for it's type out of all the aggression skills. however it also has far and few as far as tech for the game goes. with claws, though highest resisted, it allows you to pull off infinite combo attacks *provided stamina* as you can immediately cast it upon a primary weapon attack's connection and animation cancel with said ability to put them in a long enough stun lock to always be on safe on animation reset and begin the combo again. and if i'm sounding alot like a mk11 competitive dweeb with this rhetoric, it's primarily because that's what the body playstyle really represents, all gas, constant aggression, chaining as many combos on safe as you can. rage's intention is literally just a cleanup. any trash enemies around you don't want to deal with when you've become engaged, this immediately kills them in a substantial AOE around the player. barring that, can be used as a combo finisher to deal a massive or what would be expected as the death blow amount of damage. blood playstyle usually revolves around control, defense, survivability. kind of the vanilla aspect of the game where you could easily stomp your way thru with barely any effort using only blood abilities, just because of their variety. story mode of the game. (i'd imagine intentionally as some ironic sentiment that a blood specialist becomes a vampire.) the shadow playstyle seems to be primarily control and movement based, akin to how (like you mentioned) dodging; the shadowy side step ability. turns out to be the fastest movement tech in the game when it comes to non-ability usage. right, well, spring and shadow veil both support that sentiment just in varying ways. where spring is pretty self-explanatory, as it's literally just an ability to go quicksilver from a to b in half a second. shadow veil is about getting from that same a to b just in an undisturbed manner, or to break combat altogether and exit/grab. following that a quick tangent; shadow veil is alot more worthwhile in the bottom path in my opinion, as the top path's damage boosting is negligible at best, and bottom's ability to dash while remaining in shadow form cuts down time spent on crossing a field you don't want to deal with, or carving your way to the enemy you want out of the picture first with a stun sucker.

well, its not entirely true that you can't get a bunch of xp without embracing. I finished the game without embracing anyone and my lvl was 50+. it requires patience. you get xp when you heal someone's sickness. the xp is not gotten this way is not combat xp so even in hardmode you still get lots of xp. you get 100xp for curing level 3 sicknesses. in the pembroke morgue, after the quest that takes you down there has lots of skal spawn and you can farm up mats for fatigue meds. You'll get some mats for the other meds, but its mostly fatigue meds. Now, since you're not killing anyone it doesn't matter how sick any of the citizens get they will not die and the district will not become hostile - even if the meter of the district falls into the hostile status the district will stay normal so you can just sleep until every citizen in the game has the 3rd rank of their sickness and then go heal everyone after you've farmed the mats. the most efficient way of farming mats i found was to kill all the enemies in an area except 1 and then let that one enemy kill you so that you respawn with all the enemies respawned.
@MrFantocan3 жыл бұрын
True, if you add the mob killing xp, plus quests, plus healing the sick you get a good deal of xp, specially as if you farm Skals and Vampire Hunters you get plenty ingredients for medicine, then you heal people you hack good xp. But it is a VERY SLOW process, eatting people is much much faster.

@KingPhestezeo5 жыл бұрын
TL;DR: Everyone is free game to be embraced, but only after they stop being useful to you. It's been quite some time since I've played the game, but I recommend embracing anyone who doesn't seem to serve a purpose for you anymore. This would be anyone who's quest has been completed or a merchant with wares that are of little value to you. You can use a Wiki for the quest information if you so desire or your own discretion to determine if you are done with that particular NPC. If you dislike them and don't care for anything they may sell or offer you, then you can embrace them freely. The only times you should be careful is when you are looking at embracing someone who might be useful for the story. Early on, there isn't a lot of that but, again, you can use a Wiki or your own discretion to determine if they are worth it.

The problem is some people you eat give bad repercutions in the game, for instance (SPOILERS) if you eat the driver at the hospital one of the nurses (that gives A LOT xp if you eat her) is gone missing, and you find her at the street, for she turned Vampir hunter cuse you killed her boyfriend, so the driver gives at most 3k XP, but the nurse is about 4k or 5k, gone to WASTE! A good early game eat is the disfigured patient at the hospital, after he is eatten the mad woman who thinks she is a vampire is kidnapped but you can rrescue her back to the hospital, and later eat her. Gota keep in mind tho that the more hints you get from people more xp you get, and other people might need the one you ate to unlock theirs.

Thanks for the great tips, but have you beat the game without embracing anyone? I just don't see how you can find enough xp to level up your powers to level 5 if you don't embrace anyone. Your advice hinges on the ability to do this. I got as far a McCullum. I have no level 5 weapons. Two 4's and a 3. I think a better player than me would get past him. I keep getting caught in the sun patches. lol
@KingPhestezeo5 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I have only beaten the game once, and that was in my playthrough depicted in the video, where I embraced many of the locals to maximize the experience I had to work with. I don't remember that fight too well, it's been quite some time since I've played the game; however I remember the light that burns you in the fight is on a timer. You will have to keep a mental clock running for it, and eventually get used to the timing of it, but you can tell when the lights are going to shift places. The lights should focus on your general area, one right on you or close to it, and the others spread around that. You can lead McCullum out of the newly lit area into the dark part of the arena to fight him. If you get far enough away from him, he will do a charge attack that you can dodge out of the way from and then get some easy hits in. Unfortunately this means that you will be in for a longer fight with more room for mistakes, but it will then have to come down to practice. The more you fight him, the better you will get. When he lights up the most of the arena, there are pockets of darkness you can stand in. I recommend spamming the dodge ability to get into these safe places as quickly as you can. They should be big enough for you to be able to dance around McCullum until the lights turn off. Then you return to your patterned attacks to continue wearing him down. You need to remain patient and avoid getting greedy with stamina usage and damage dealing. Those are surefire ways to lose a critical amount of health. You will be in for a tough fight, but he is beatable with what I imagine you to have.

What's a good build for playing on hard and trying to get by without killing any of the npc's. Xp is a slow grind and unlocking all those abilities would take a long time.
@KingPhestezeo5 жыл бұрын
It's tough to make as complete of a build without embracing NPC's, and I didn't play the game on hard so I don't know what skills might be necessary based on the changes in difficulty. I believe that the build I ran with would suffice for hard mode, but you need to cut corners, obviously. I'll try and give you some general advice because I don't know any specifics that can help you in a way that you may need. TL; DR: Shadow mist as your first skill, bloodspear when you can get it afterwards. Stick to autophagy for survival early on. If you are confident in your skills then you can replace that with coagulation. Get a weapon to return blood as soon as you can and pair that with passives that give you blood, but this only helps if you spam abilities. If you don't use them too often you are probably better off with defensive passives and a good weapon. Try to be mindful of your purchasing. Since you aren't embracing, you want to make sure what you spend is worth it for you. Abyss will be there when you can afford it. I think shadow mist and bloodspear are going to help you abuse enemy weaknesses early on. I liked shadow mist more in the early game than bloodspear, it is resisted less often. Autophagy goes a long way for survival if you're having a difficult time. You can pair autophagy with, or replace it with, coagulation. I recommend replacing it only if you are rarely getting hit and have some trouble getting in as much damage as you may need. They're both invaluable later on so get them both eventually. Level passives as you need them, otherwise you can try and save for important upgrades or hold onto the XP for when you might need to make a purchase or upgrade. Anything to keep my blood filled was my priority, but if you need something else then make sure you cover your needs as best you can. Just get whatever you need but be careful not to overspend on passives. You are working with a lot less XP so you have to be careful not to overindulge and leave yourself high and dry when you needed an upgrade for something else. Try to get a weapon that returns blood per swing to keep yourself as tactically available as you can, or a weapon that you are comfortable with so you can avoid damage and prolonging encounters. Since I spammed abilities throughout my entire playthough, I suggest getting the saw from the hospital early on, but beyond that it comes down to what you prefer or need. If you don't care for the saw then get something you are good with. If you don't have anything you excel with then pick something quick so you can evade and be mobile. If you feel like you are experiencing a decent growth rate, and the games difficulty/challenge is settling down, you can stem into getting some extra passives or, instead, getting abyss to cause heavy damage to late game enemies. It does an impressive amount of work for you when you combo it with other skills. This can be seen the gameplay clips at the end of the video. Forewarning that there are spoilers there.

You must farm Skals and Vampire hunters, they will give a few xp, but most important they will give ingredients to make medicine, in pacifist mode your main xp source is HEALING the sick people in London, if gives good xp, and as almost every night you take a nap someone gets sick you can get good stuff. But it is a slow painful process to run all around town looking for the one guy with a headache. But with the mobs you kill along the way and the healing you get some xp, but it takes time and pacience. Eatting innocents is A LOT faster way to level.

Did you in chance embrace the Bakers brothers and if you did what were the consequences? Get back to me please
@KingPhestezeo5 жыл бұрын
I believe I did. I don't remember what happened, I just Google'd it to find out, and this is what happens: Embrace Pericles: If you embrace Pericles, Agamemnon will become infected and show up in Temple Garden Park as a skal. Agamemnon is a Level 30 Dazzled Skal He has the additional ability of being able to create a shadow to attack you. He can only create 1 shadow at a time. It will die if you hit it, and it only lasts for a few seconds one way or another before dissipating. Embrace Agamemnon: If you embrace Agamemnon, Pericles will join the Guard of Priwen. He'll show up after you sleep in the area north of Temple Church, between Aloysius Dawson's Mansion, and Whitechapel. Pericles is a Level 30 Priwen Fire Executioner. Pericles fires much faster than a normal executioner, firing flaming crossbow bolts at you one right after another. He's also much quicker than a normal executioner, capable of dodging away from your attacks in a way that Executioners normally cannot.

@KingPhestezeo6 жыл бұрын
As a heads-up for anyone reading this, I will be describing a part of the video at the end in the spoiler section. Read onward at your own discretion. The ones with the big health bars at the bottom of the screen are bosses, but the ones at 35:57 or 36:18 are NPC's or special enemies. These special enemies are vampires you encounter in the streets in the late game.

It's been some time since I've last played the game, but I believe their is a limited amount of named enemies. In terms of vampire hunters, I think it is the same as the vampires: some are named and can be fought at a certain point in the story, and once they are killed they are gone for good.

And the weapon you thought was not important is the best 1 hander in the game......
@magickmynd12966 ай бұрын
I feel like this game kind of pushes you to the bad ending as canon. I mean, what's the point in making the main character a vampire and giving them all these abilities, and then telling them they can't drink blood or use those abilities and basically sticking them with just physical weapons? You basically just make them a slightly stronger and more durable human. F that. Go full vampire, embrace your abilities, it's more fun that way.

Not using 2 hander is just stupid...
@KingPhestezeo2 жыл бұрын
I personally prefer faster weapons in most games, I find them more engaging over slower, higher damage dealing weapons. I don't see it as stupid; rather, a matter of preference. You like two-handers, I like one-handers. That's about it. I stated in the video that I don't like the two-handed weapons in the game in anyway, and that is that is because of the aforementioned reason. I'm sure there are plenty of good two-handed weapons in the game, but the build I am describing works extremely well with a one-handed weapon, so I don't imagine a two-handed weapon is so significantly stronger that it invalidates what I explain. If anything, patches since this videos release are much more likely to render this build obsolete, not changing one weapon, though I did beat the game shortly after recording this video, so I am out of the Vampyr loop by four years for any and all patches or changes made to the game's balancing. If you have an alternative build idea that uses a two-hander, one that you can list changes to the build I describe in the video, both myself and any future players of Vampyr would appreciate it.
