The best version I´ve heard. Young music needs young musicians.

Awesome performance. A heavy work that was still kept light and airy. Thanks for posting. Total enjoyment!

I love watching Van Baerle Trio! I bought their recordings after catching their Tchaikovsky on KZbin. I was unfamiliar with this Mendelssohn Trio before watching this video, but can't imagine how any other rendition could be more thrilling. I first enjoyed Maria Milstein playing Dvorak with the Busch Trio on Medici TV and then saw KZbin of Van Baerle Trio Live at Wigmore Hall. Fabulous.

The pianist looks very young and he is full of emotions. Really good pianist! And of course very good violinist and cellist :)

Suena muy sólido el trío y la obra está excelentemente bien interpretada. La genialidad de Mendelssohn y este muy buen trío se juntan para regalarnos primera calidad para nuestros oídos!! Felicitaciones!

A moving performance. The three of them perfect.

I love this interpretation. The music is well constructed. I just had listened to the same piano trio by professional musicians at a house concert in my neighbourhood this month where the music was played pretty well but lacked a certain construction (I don't know how to denote it, something like a story in the music). So I can hear the difference here indeed.

A really excellent performance...captures the richness and exuberance of this unique work. Stacks up favorably with the Oistrakh-led recording, which many view as the Standard. My only critique is that movements 1 and 3 were a tad too fast (even though clarity was maintained, for the most part).

Somehow for me it was lacking passion and could use more feeling, although brilliantly played.

Lacking passion? After reading your comment, I looked up "passionate" in an online dictionary, and there was a link to this video. May I suggest you turn up your speakers, tune out any distractions, and listen again.

+mcrettable The fault must be in you, with all due respect, for surely it's not the performance. The balance of form and feeling is wonderfully maintained. Maybe you just don't like the piece.

Its a funny piece of music. Triumphant, showy and very youthful. Mr M never got to reflective middle age. Brilliantly played by these young people. Youth, youth, youth! I can listen to it over and over again.
