Automatons are rarely seen outside of Europe except for some wealthy Americans bringing some to the USA. Most are very old and made in the early to mid 1800s.

Just because they don't put it on display, doesn't mean they didn't use CADs to design the entire thing, of course they did. There are good reasons why it in fact wasn't made 200 or even 30 years ago. If you look at product design of... anything really over past few decades you can visually see computer design creeping in and it's fantastic, you get design lines and quality of engineering that just isn't viable with more manual methods, or worse trying to do things freehand.

I also awe at illuminated manuscripts, celtic technology... i don't doubt for one moment that the stories of the elves are real when i look at some of those things.
