Yea, really good debut. The guy he was up against at RB was very quick and despite that, Odebert gave him a lot of problems in the first half, good passing and very direct in his style of play. He's 19 if I'm not mistaken, so I was very impressed

As an Australian fan.. passionate Man Utd fan since 1976.. years in and out.. But I’m an Ange fan.. second season Ange wins the competition.. Quote me wrong at the end of the season.. What is Anges secret weapon? Puskas was his personal mentor on a daily basis at South Melbourne.. Ange ball is Puskasball from the 1950s-1960s… but with a slight tweak with over lapping fullbacks.. I’m smiling and not worried.. I’ve watched and followed Ange for 15 years..

Alice, defensively, the difference between Spurs conceding goals or keeping a clean sheet is the defensive efforts of the midfielders and wingers. Last season, it wasn't the injuries to Romero and Van De Ven that opened Tottenham up, it was the exhaustion of the few uninjured mids who struggled to track back. Ange described his players as running on fumes. By improving the front third, Ange is improving the teams defence (plus their chance creation/conversion). Interestingly, losing Romero and Van De Ven damages Spurs' ability to transition into attack in terms of the high line and passing through the other team. It was the same with Celtic, Yokohama and Brisbane Roar, and to a lesser extent with the Socceroos. Thanks, I really enjoy your statistical analysis of Tottenham and its players.

Great analysis again Alice, I shall subscribe as I'm loving your Spurs content :) Don't be too reactionary though (goodness knows we have enough folk like that among our own supporters!). Sonny has had a poor season by his standards in 2 of the last 3 seasons and hasn't rested properly for around 14 months. He looks properly knackered at times and isn't the typical Ange 'winger' (because of course he's an inside forward) so it's taken some time for Ange to accomodate that. And Romero certainly isn't underrated, he was imperious last season. Maybe you mean among non Spurs supporters? Madrid were sniffing around this summer and will be back next summer with the likelihood they will get him if this serial trophy winner doesn't get any at Spurs this season (and very likely even if we do). Cheers!

"Son - proper captain performance". Yes he led by example today. However some Spurs fans doubt his captaincy role, judging him a bit too nice. I suppose if they are comparing him with the likes of John Terry or potentially Romero then I would agree. But then Kane was no Romero or Terry either. Personally I think the best captains' position is in the defence or midfield if they have the right personality.
