The commentary about kings before the power of God was beautiful. This painting really does have incredible detail. I always love seeing objects that appear to glow in paintings like the goblet. And there's something about the right-most magi that gets to me - as a milk chocolate lady, I love his ethnic look. Yet there's this sharp contrast of ultra-pale Mary (meaning to reflect purity?) that I never know how to feel about... There's a lot to appreciate overall. I could stare at this for a while.

Great analysis. A perfect accompaniment to understanding the art discussed in, “The Recognitions” by William Gaddis.
