i think FW is hands down most often picked by the majority of VH fans as their favorite album. I can still remember getting it in like 1983 and hearing Mean Street for the first time. Just mind blowing.

@@STEVEHEROLD I super concur with you. Such a powerful guitar album, Alex showcased how good his drumming was on mean street, the guitar riff on mean street gets better everyday, lyrics were and still are dark and mysterious on that album. The tour and overall vibe with the fire gong is alien like. Couldn't agree with you more. 👏

Edward was up late in 1996, “ it takes more than one person” “what does Van Halen mean to you” He would call in evening and talk till 4 am or later and Steve Rosen would be beeping in the call waiting. Everyone that was around back then knew Edward was on the opposite side of the clock 🕰 as they say. Love you Al and miss you guys.

I hate to say this. because I love the VH brothers, but they should have went on tour with Dave that year.sounde like the brothers were more immature this time. They did the tour later anyway. It's a shame because those 2 songs were 2 of the best songs they've ever done

@@STEVEHEROLD yeah me too man and I don't even follow the grateful dead. Lol hearing them talk about it all sounds childish. They know how Dave was. He was always that way. And I would have did the dead head thing too. It would have been the best four ever. I love those 2 songs. And it was a mistake because the Gary Cherone thing didn't work. Love the brothers dearly but seems like that was on them a bit.Its a crying Shame. 2 incredible songs. simply iconic.

Sammy was called on father's day 96 , they had just came off the Balance tour and Sammy had a newborn daughter he wanted to spend some time with then they had planned on making another album , Eddie wanted Sam back in the studio asap and wanted to make a best of album and Sam put his foot down and said no way . Then Eddie said you frustrate me , you never do anything we ask you to do , Sam said yeah I do then Eddie said you've always been a solo artist you might as well just go back to being one quote unquote , Sammy also went on to say when Eddie called him that morning Eddie was drunk as a skunk and wouldn't surprise me if Eddie didn't even remember calling him .

What I don't like is Sammy caused the problems between himself and Ed . Ed NEVER said anything differently since the day Sammy refused to work on the greatest hits album . That's all it was . From an entertainment trade paper interview , Ed fought for Gary with the record company while they were making a couple songs allegedly . Dave Roth is best described as a lounge act singer.. a cabaret type.. Plagued by a limited vocal range Ed had to write music to accommodate Dave's weaknesses. Sammy was a professional singer with no limitations on his vocals. Plus Sammy could play guitar. David Lee Roth is a washed up old news wannabe Rock star..a joke.
