This is a great tune off of an criminally underrated album.

Yes! Another ripping Van Halen cover!! Brother, you crushed this, and you were just tearing that Wolfgang up ! Awesome song. Killer guitar. Monster tone. And a fantastic cover. You are just one heck of a player, and you do the Van Halen stuff so well. My all-time favorite Band by 2 miles! There will never be another EVH... or VH for that matter. Never. You rocked this, bro! Rock on!!!

I think you're starting to get the hang of it...😁😁 But seriously, it really is crazy you don't have more subscribers than you do. I have watched a ton of VH content since KZbin's inception and would rank your guitar covers among the best if not the best ever uploaded. The least I can do is let you know that I appreciate every minute of time that you put into doing these. I'm sure it is a labor of love for you but it's total ear candy for me. Keep up the great work!

In all honesty, I think I did figure out a LOT from Aftershock. If you mess around enough, you are bound to have some moments where things come together. For me, it was how he got that sound. It only took 30 years! Haha. And thanks John for the support. Sometimes it feel like I'm in a blackhole with the channel so it is really nice to hear this kind of support! Thanks again! :-)

I don’t know why I haven!t ran across your channel before! I am totally blown away at not only your playing, but your knowledge of how King Edward got his tones! Neurological issues in my old man arms and hands have somewhat robbed me of much of my past ability to play. So now I can live vicariously through your playing on your channel! Looking forward to more of and appreciate your videos and the work it takes to make them! Including your originals!

Always enjoy your VH takes and was really surprised at this deep cut and how your mix or remix of the material brings out elements that were missing, i.e. Mike's amazing bass groove on this one. I revisited the tune and am also floored by Alex's playing and blissful tone. Great EVH playing as always but you brought out the fun factor on this. That's a high bar to meet!
@TheRetroGuitarist7 ай бұрын
That is much appreciated! It isolate the instruments one by one (drums, vocals and sometimes bass), then put each one on their own track, then I mix it down. The bass isolations often times end up sounding bad so I'll play the bass parts. The vocals can have some guitar bleed as well so I have to clean them up too. This stuff takes a LOT of time.

Awesome cover. So glad you jumped into the Balance album. One of my favorites. Question- how did you do the W/D/W with your Kemper? Or did you add the effects in your DAW?
@TheRetroGuitarist7 ай бұрын
Thanks Jeff! Balance was because you requested it. So for the w-d-w, the Kemper can't do it because you need to be able to have a dry signal. The Kemper, to my knowledge, can't split an effect. So I no longer use the Kemper for any effect other than the flanger. Reverb, harmonizer, delay, etc are all in the DAW. It is really nice too because you can record with a dry signal then add stuff later. If you record with effects then you got what you got. Know what I mean?

@@TheRetroGuitarist I am trying to teach myself some recording techniques w/ AUD Apollo + Logic, and your explanation makes total sense. I am just using a real amp w/ a Two Notes Captor to bring my signal into my interface. Thanks again for taking my request!

Great cover. I love the melodies that evolved from the Sammy-era of VH. Not present on the DLR era. Alex's drumming also got really laid back and effortlessly cool too. I love raw innovation of the DLR era but the progression they made musically with Sammy doesn't get talked about enough I feel.
@TheRetroGuitarist7 ай бұрын
Thanks! I agree. They were a different, more refined band with Hagar. The song structure with Hagar is more complex, in general, too. Once you try playing this stuff you realize just how nuanced the songs and Ed's play was.
