They should officially release this Tokyo Dome performance as part of a Van Hagar Live box set. It sounds a lot better than that retched 2013 performance also at Japan’s world famous Tokyo Dome with Roth in 2015 (which never should’ve been recorded or released PERIOD!).

I have been and will always be a VH fan no matter who is singing. I loved both the Dave and Sammy eras for what they were. Ed is always God on vinyl. Seen Him a little rough around the edges in concert a few times. Still the King. One tho, listen to that bottom end. Alex and Mike are killer thru and thru. Perfect everytime.

I agree 100%. But why the fuck did Eddie get rid of MA?! apart from getting his son in the band? Michael Anthony had a big hand in making that awesome Van Halen signature sound, with his bass and the backing vocals. Wolfie can't replicate that sound, which is why Van Halen aren't good anymore. He tries, but it just ain't happening with him. Douche Lee Roth is another reason why they suck now.

Right on the money, Rob. EVH blew his only chance at real redemption when he fucked over MA and kicked him out. They sounded terrible live (with DLR), but could have salvaged some respectability if they'd kept MA to keep the live vocals decent. As it is/was, he went with the family affair and killed off VH forever. So sad. They could have gone out right instead of wrong : /

I wonder if a copy of the full unedited show exists? The version that is on youtube and was also available as a bootleg for some years is not the full show. Running With The Devil, Aint Talkin Bout Love, Cabo Wabo, Rock and Roll and Finish What You Started and the bass solo were omitted for the tv broadcast. Also, the guitar and drum solo are heavily edited.

I remember listening to early Sammy interviews where He says Alex used to stay out all night partying and then arrive just before showtime and play a 2-2 1/2 hr set.Can you imagine playing like that tweeked, ripped, and wired. He is a madman and very underated. ROCK ON!!!

Totally agreed!! No slop/ BAND ON FIRE!! Been a pro touring/session drummer for a long time and really impressed by the quality of the performance and sound here!! Also, as a female can't help myself and mention that I want to rip through the screen and grab Sammy and have my way with him here.....I know he's the Red Rocker, but the yellow is working very nicely too:) He is hitting every note perfectly here!! Used to practice drums to this record day in and day out when I was learning drums!!

Someone with a great ear for music!!!! Hagar abused DLR on the SAM & DAVE tour in Massachusetts, DLR had a hard time standing up while Sammy ran around the stage. Sammy keep shaking the peoples hands and signing autographs for them.
