2 live crew! Used this for one of their songs back in the 80’s. That could’ve been where you heard this.Van Halen wrote the soundtrack for a couple of generations of rock music. Not really just rock but you can hear it in country and rap. Their influence was incredible, the ultimate party time feel good rock n roll band! Great reaction you guys and thanks for reacting to one of their greatest classics here. Brown sound at its best! ( it’s in the fingers not the equipment)

These guys had it all, as great as Eddie was, DLR was a super charasmatic singer, AVH was a killer drummer, and Michael Anthony was a solid bass player who sang amazing backing vocals. Each one had a sound that was instantly recognizable on their own.

And I credit Van Halen for getting attractive women at Rock Concerts. Other bands sporadically had good numbers of women to see Robert Plant, Daltrey, Mick Jagger etc. But Davie Lee Roth almost got Elvis powers on the women. Most great live rock bands were predominantly Sausage Fests. Sabbath had a few scary witch chicks, but not many to look at. Van Halen was like MTV music videos in the audience. Their videos had hot chicks so the women coming to VH concerts seemed to be dressed for recruiting (barely dressed and braless).

Eddie Van Halen absolutely changed the way an entire generation of us played the guitar and that changed the way those coming after us played the guitar. He was simply the most innovative rock guitar player ever. He was doing things none of us had ever heard of or even thought about doing. He made all of us better and happier.

Eddie wrote most of the music while David Lee Roth wrote most of the lyrics. Eddie changed the sound of Rock with what he called the Brown sound of his guitar and amps in addition to his riffs, virtuoso technique and out of the box playing in general.

This debut album, along with the Boston debut album, are considered to be two of the best debut albums in rock history. You really ought to look at everything on this album. I was in junior high when this came out, and it was everywhere and everybody bought the album and you heard it at the lake and you heard it constantly on the radio and it was just so good. It sounded so revolutionary at the time.

Alex Van Halen, their drummer is a beast and you'll hear it once you get around to songs like Hot for Teacher. I can't find a video for it, but Alex and Motley Crue's drummer Tommy Lee used to one-up each other with their stage shows. Seeing a drummer seated in a 6-point harness at a live show, you know you're about to get your money's worth for the price of admission.

"All gas, no Breaks" - That's how we felt in '78. Thanks for that. I'll add, at that time, the 'big' acts were the British rockers like Zeppelin, Purple, Sabbath among others whom were more complex. Here comes Van Halen in your face with these incredibly tight songs. There were a few like Ted Nugent, but these guys rewrote the scene like few others before.

This song was THE Van Halen arena rock anthem that closed out every live concert.... specifically, the "hey, hey, hey" at the end of the song that the audience could contribute to and fill an entire arena with decibels that no one ever herd before (btw? Screw mobile phone lights..... LIGHTER lighting was the ONLY way to do it. Also, one of the ONLY songs that Sammy Hagar, second front man singer after David Lee Roth (who was the original singer to play for Van Halen fans), actually played at the end of encores to finalize a Van Halen Experience LIVE. This song was simply the ONE to end every concert with and if one listens to it? One will know why.
