Thank you SO MUCH!! After watching at least a half dozen other videos on this and getting increasingly frustrated as I went, I finally found yours. Finally. Someone who not only knows what they're doing, but who can also communicate very effectively the information they're teaching. Bravo, and well done!

I just did this awesome lesson. Thanks so much for making it super accurate. I was playing the 3rd fret mistake you mentioned. Please seriously consider doing the 5150 solo. I know you'll make it as accurate as humanly possible. It's just how you roll. 🙂

Wonderful lesson PDX. I like the big red arrow to permit one to link the tab to what you are playing. At EVH's speed, it would be very challenging to pick out * each individual note * in the fast riff. So just do the same pattern while making sure you know where you started and where you intend to go. Happy 2 hear you are still contributing (last vid you posted). As a request you should try VH's spanish fly. Rock on
@PDXguitarfreak3 жыл бұрын
Hey GH, thanks! You bring up a good point about repeating the pattern and simply making sure you know where you intend to go. That's very EVH-like. In fact, sometimes I feel a bit silly trying to get EVH's playing down to every single little nuance, considering even EVH himself didn't care about replicating the records... he just played. :)

Dave..I’m guilty of hacking this up... it was those little 2 or 3 ending notes that transitioned to the next string that messed me up...this is a very syncopated lick and every note counts or you will be off....thanks so much...you are the man!!!!

nice man--People also put extra notes in the very A minor/pentatonic first tapping/pull off lick in Spanish Fly. You nailed the swing after the tapping lick which is arguably the hardest part!

Great Lesson Dave!! Thanks for making it so accurate. I have butchered it for years... Also thanks for teasing me with the Jackson. Please let me buy it. LOL Take care

Hardest part of this for me is knowing when to come in. At least on the backing track I have, every time I try to get it in time, I'm always a half second early or late. I've never looked at the time stamp of when Eddie comes in, that would probably help!

Hey thanks Alfred! I've been thinking about doing that one... I did a cover of it previously (dressed as a chick LOL) on KZbin, but I admittedly improvised the final run. I'll need to go back and take a listen to see if I can better pick out the actual notes :)

Hey Howdy, thanks! I think I have a few that are a bit easier that you may want to consider: I Love Rock N Roll, Whole Lotta Love, Bohemian Rhapsody, Wanted Dead or Alive, Jessie's Girl, etc.... but if you have anything in mind, let me know. The queue is long, but I'm always open to suggestions. :)

I can play most of Ed's stuff and have been playing for almost 40 years. But this intro has always been my Achillie's heel. I just can't physically reach the 3rd and 7th frets at the same time with my fretting hand. any tricks?

@jacksonmarshallkramer50876 ай бұрын
That guitar looks Jacksonish, but for such a fancy piece, there's no binding, the headstock looks a little short, the logo script looks short, can't really see it, and the fret markers aren't quite curved enough. Looks similar to a custom shop Dinky with the bolt on neck. Pickup rings are not standard issue. Been playing Jacksons for a long time. Never seen one like this before.
@PDXguitarfreak6 ай бұрын
Custom Shop Dinky. It's funny because when I bought it, the price was really good so I questioned it's validity. Did a little research and found out that Jackson made a few of them (it was not a one-off, but a run... I can't remember, but think there were 4 or 5 built).
